Good move by Kerr. Should be a good fit for his first gig.

Steve Kerr has accepted the Warriors' head coaching job, according to David Aldridge of NBA.com.
I don't like the Warriors hiring someone with no coaching experience. They are too close to a Championship. Too much risk in a first time head coach. They should've gone with someone with more experience.

5 years $25 million = wow, that is a lot of money for someone with no coaching background.

Mark Jackson was a first time coach and he took the Warriors to the Playoffs in his 2nd year. We can make the case that if Bogut and Curry we're healthy in his first season, they probably snuck in.

But $5 million is indeed a lot. Thats probably the "heres the bank, so ypu womt reconsider" offer.
Yep the only pure coach that makes more than that is Doc at 7 million.  Pop and SVG both make more but they have more responsibility.

Or it could be career over.

Ownership was desperate to avoid being spurned by both of their top candidates.

They also outbid the Knicks -- word is right around $20 million for four years.

Who would you rather have had the Warriors go after?

And who, know, do people think the Knicks look to sign?

Doc isn't a "pure" coach.  He also has a GM role with the Clippers, which was probably the biggest reason for him going to LA.

Think it was obvious Steve Kerr would join GSW...

The prospect of playing in a horrible situation in NYK, where the future is uncertain, without the ability to upgrade with picks any time soon, and cap space a major issue, why would he join?

Kerr can also make Klay/Curry even better by helping them make smarter plays to take 3's.

All this tells me is that the rest of the league has mad respect for Phil Jackson.  The guy merely mentions Kerr's name outloud and a few weeks later there's a bidding war for him and he's one of the highest paid coaches in the league.

Kerr is so friggen lucky he played with Jordan and hit that shot. Gift that keeps on giving.
