I don't understand why two very important ex-Celtics haven't made any statement -as far as I know- about the Donald Sterling racist words. One is Larry Bird, the other one -and his silence spoke volumes- is the great Bill Russell, very known for his fierce defence about the black community since the fifties.

Any clue?

Stern knew about it too and tolerated it.   Sterling gave Elgin problems but Dirty David let it go...

Russell and Bird don't have twitter accounts.

What do Antoine Walker, Fab Melo, and Dino Radja have to say?

If you ask them about it they would say something about it.  Were they supposed to have press conferences about it?

Why would they need to make any statements without being asked about it.

Bird is kind of busy worrying about his playoff team  ::)

And Russell isn't involved at all.

They aren't obligated to make a bigger deal of this than it already is.

Why do they have to say something?  The situation doesn't need them.
No gravitas required here.  Everything is crystal clear already.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism

Because they don't need to. If this would have happened within the Celtics organization you know people would be asking them for their opinion but they certainly aren't obligated to make a statement either way.

No one's gotten to ask them on record because they're not involved in any way whatsoever.

Shocker, really.
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.
