Well it's been pretty slow on the boards lately so I was trying to think of ideas to get some people involved. I was just wondering if anyone wanted to do a draft of the actual players in this years draft just for fun. We all pick a team whoever wants to do it kind if like how you guys do the draft for your fantasy teams. Ill run the lottery on the espn machine 10 times and average the order out. We can do trades and everything just like an actual draft, as long as there realistic, we can set up a commissioner to approve or deny them. I was thinking some time in the next week or two? If you want to just reply on here. I know it kinda seems like a waste of time, but it would be interesting to see how it would actually look with a bunch of different peoples ideas. Anyways let me know!

I think we're all waiting for the lottery to go down, before we start to do mock drafts. Especially in the case of the celtics, we really have no clue who we might end up with at this point.

I've only been on the boards since the start of this season maybe a little bit before. Do you guys do something similar to this after the lottery? I was just trying to think of ideas to get some people involved and talking.

No i don't think i've ever seen that done here before. I think that's a great idea though. If you really wanted to organize it, it can be done. You'd probably need to assign multiple teams to the bloggers who participate, because  it would be difficult to get 30 members to participate.

To keep it simple i have 2 suggestions.

1. Skip trades. Let's just have all participants make a pick. Less time would need to be committed, and more people like myself would probably participate.  :)

2. Why average the lotto machine? Either do a mock with the order as is. Or give the wheel 1 spin and lets the cards fall where they may.

Yeah averaging it out will never work, because all teams have a chance at the top 3 picks, but after that it goes in order.

Also, if you're role playing for the teams, how far do you go with it?  Like how would you mock for the Cavaliers front office, for instance?  Should I pick Mitch McGary 9th overall?

Haha I guess you just do whatever move you thinks is best for the team your representing. You don't have to account for past drafts lol. Just make the best move you can, whether it be long term move or short.

I'd be interested in this after the lottery order has been set.

I'd be up for this.  It can involve two lotteries - the actual draft order, and a 2nd lottery of Celticsbloggers and the team they'll draft for.  Also, if no pick trades then you'll need fewer than 30 participants because there a quite a few teams with multiple picks.

I'd be up for it. But I don't see trades as a good idea honestly. And use the order the mocks are using at the moment. Seems like the easiest way to get an order.

Considering we have 2 weeks until the lottery, i think it is a good idea to have 2 mock drafts as well.

1 now based purely on worst record order, and then another after the lottery order is set. It's a long month and a half until the draft afterall.

We can even shuffle team assignments on the second mock draft to generate different perspectives.

If the order is set and teams are assigned a week ahead of time, trades could be made before the draft takes place.  Also, I'd be interested if there are open teams.
Mock Deadline Denver Nuggets
Nurcic/Henson
Patterson/Bennett/Arthur
Ross/Budinger
Miller/Hunter/Foye
Rubio/Ennis/Bayless
