Atlanta is releasing a modern spin on their classic Hawks logo.

Quote
The Atlanta Hawks unveiled the club?s new secondary logo on Thursday, an evolved interpretation of the iconic and classic team mark that was used from 1972-95.

The new logo will make its worldwide debut on Thursday during the Hawks vs. Pacers First Round Game 6 contest at Philips Arena, as all fans in attendance will receive a red t-shirt featuring the logo.

While the team?s primary logo will remain unchanged, the secondary mark will appear on Hawks clothing, caps and other fan gear.

The new logo definitely looks . . . angrier? Determined, I guess. The old one looked kind of bored.

They realized modelling their logo after their fan's primary emotion wasn't the best way to go.
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

Am I the only one who sees Pac-Man running to the left instead of a Hawk?

Honest question for all, how long did it take you to see the Hawk in the original logo as opposed to Pac Man?

For me I think it was the early 2000's sometime, so in my early 20's, probably looking at a SLAM magazine and reading one of their old school articles, and it just clicked.  THAT'S A HAWK!  Never really knew that it was supposed to be anything else before, figured it was just something random like the Blazers logo.

To be fair though, I was born in the early 80's, so I grew up in the middle of Pac Man fever, played the video games, watched the cartoon, ate the cereal, saw tons of Pac Man branded merchandise.  Was well inundated with Pac Man before I knew of the Atlanta Hawks. Just wondering how many others were the same and never saw the Hawk or thought about what it was supposed to be.

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

Well now that you guys mention it, I can't unsee it.

Reminds me of a reddit post where a kid mentioned he always saw teeth as a child when he looked at the batman logo:

And of course many have joked the Superman logo looks like fish.

Edit:  Better pic:
