For the right price he is a fine player.  He can't be paid like a star though.

I don't think Boozer will clear waivers, though - getting a guy of his caliber for as low as the vet min is going to be very attractive for teams under the cap.  Can't think of a single guy around Boozer's caliber who wasn't promptly snapped up after amnesty.

Boozer isn't worth 17 million dollars. I don't see anyone trading for him without sending a bad contract back. The Bulls would probably have to give up a draft pick or even 2 if they are hoping someone will absorb his salary for them.

If a team is interested in him, and has cap space, they might as well just bid something like 5 million for him after he is amnestied. He could be a valuable backup 4 at that price.

Seems like something worth defining his entire personality by a decade later.

Anyway I was just looking up Carmelo's stats, and it's pretty bizarre to set a career high in Win Shares in your only losing season.  I'd be excited to see what he could with the Bulls' framework around him.  Would take a lot of pressure off Rose's second comeback, too.

Might help on one end of the court....But IMHO it's a worst fit in Thibs system than Boozer.

If Thibs doesn't play Boozer in the 4th quarter...How would he play the snitchster in the 4th quarter?  Offense / defense substitutions?  Chandler is close to Noah as an anchor in the middle....But regardless of the coach...They weren't able to adequately hide the snitchster and his complete disregard on the defensive end.  Thibs is arguably the NBA's brightest coach.  But I don't see how he does it either.   Also brings an undermining aspect to any team when your highest paid player plays only one side of the court.

Are you joking? Kelly is making rookie money and pulls in 9/5/2 in 20 mins on 7 shots while Boozer gets 14/8/2 in 28 mins on 13 shots. Both can't defend but at least we are talking first try with Kelly when Boozer is a finished product (if you can't defend with Thibs then there is no hope), Kelly can still improve defensively and rebound better (he pulled down 7 in Feb and Apr and 6 in Mar). With the way Kelly can stroke it (he got much better as the season went on), he can be a force on offense.

I'm not saying he is better than Boozer right now but I'm not paying Boozer and at this stage of their careers I will take Kelly over him (with work he will do this offseason) every day and twice on Sunday!

So, it's not how Kelly will get minutes, I don't see the argument for why we should pick up Boozer to take away his minutes. The only reason would be experience but that's nothing in Boozer's case when he can't even play in the 4th Q of playoff games (crucial ones at that)! If only Thibs started all the games with Taj who knows how it would have turned out. If you don't want to play him in the 4th how do you justify starting him? It's not like it's a Jordan thing with fts either...

I'd do Chicago's 16th and 19th picks and Boozer for Bass, Bogans, and Babb.  Wouldn't take him on for less tho.

We are not one piece away folks.   Make makes zero sense, we have enough PFs.   We have guys with similar skill sets.  He is old and doesn't defend.

I agree it makes no sense to add Boozer as a piece.  But if the Bulls don't want to amnesty him, it's going to cost them other assets to get rid of him.  We are more than one piece away -- getting a draft pick or two with him will help is get those pieces.  But trading for him as a player or getting him off amnesty would be a waste for this team.
