This DTS deal will not blow over, not in the NBA, not during the playoffs.

I know the NBA is going to try to close ranks to prevent any blow overs in this case, but I just don't see how any of us fans can allow this to blow over. An example should be made of DTS.

He has got away with this kind of stuff for much too long. I know a family that gave up their Clipper season tickets because of DTS's behavior at games.

I cannot blame Doc Rivers for taking the job, but he probably did not know who he was going to work for though I seriously doubt that (we know that Elgin Baylor sued DTS for race related issues). Any benefit of doubt given to Doc Rivers about going to work for DTS should end once that tape is authenticated.

Now Doc has a decision to make. He can resign (he definitely does not need the money) and show he is a man  of integrity, or he can continue to work for an avowed racist and prove that he has no integrity.

...or, Doc (and, honestly, I've never been a huge fan, but I can't blame him on this) could stay where he is, confront Sterling, bust his balls about racism every chance he gets, take a stand and have Sterling fire him and then sue his sorry ass and own the Clippers himself. ;) ;)

The point I am making is probably akin with GWB's

If you are not against the racists, you are with the racists.

I did not say any of this is Doc's fault or anyone elses's faiult but DTS's fault. But principled people still need to take a stand.

More than anyone else Doc Rivers is the face of the Clipper organization. Quick tell me the name of the Clipper's GM? Just as I thought.

I don't think the Doc obsession is healthy, but I also think it would be pretty fantastic of the Clippers team, all 15 players, to refuse to play in any more home games until he's no longer the owner.

If you don't take a stand, you're enabling.  So I agree with Ogaju

Quitting (which, ironically, has come up in other discussions of Doc's "integrity" by certain posters) isn't the only way to take a stand.

Well, Doc Rivers has the GM role under the title of vice president of basketball operations, but holding up GWB as a model of principled behavior is laughable.

I think it would be reasonable for people like Rivers to wait and see what the league office does.

taking a principled stand based on one's conscience is not quitting,

Do you think Mohammed Ali quit when he refused to go to Vietnam?

I think some people disagree with the idea that re-signing is the only possible principled stance.

resigning is not the only principled stance, but remaining silent is a real cop out especially after what Doc put in his book about racism in the NBA. There is no way he can work for a racist and keep quiet about it.

I take it you don't agree with what Doc said publicly?

Well, he's not being silent.  So, far his response is:

Quote
Doc Rivers: "were not happy with any of it. Were going to let the due process happen." Doc added that "it upsets me and upsets this team."

I feel that this is something where it is the league's responsibility to address matters and people in positions such as Doc Rivers would be reasonable if they wanted to give the league a chance to address this properly and only bring the hammer down if Adam Silver's regime fails miserably.
