DeAndre Jordan has arrived

I remember posting on several occasions about how the KG-Jordan proposed trade was a great trade for the Celtics. Most didn't think it was a good trade because he lacks an offenisve game other than receiving lobs, his free throw %, Del Negro benching him in the 4th, and shortsightedness

DeAndre hasn't even improved skill-wise as much as Doc just getting him to stop roaming for blocks and begin to anchor the defense through staying in position to protect the paint and getting on the defensive glass. On the offensive end, he's just continuing to run the floor and getting into the paint for alley oops, and getting putbacks off of offensive rebounds.

As much as I loved KG being a part of the team, if he was always going to be traded, DeAndre Jordan and a 1st for the 2014 KG was a mugging.

I remember not long ago the rumored Jordan, Bledsoe, and picks for Pierce, KG, and Doc was much maligned here.

maligned??? who maligned that... DeAndre Jordan has always been a force in the league. Clippers ponied up once for him, they will do it again.

Maybe you weren't around back then. It was everywhere on this board. Jordan was called overrated, overpaid, etc.

Before there were tankers, there was the "blow it up" crowd.

Even LarBrd33, who led the "blow it up" train on Celticsblog, agreed that not doing the DeAndre Jordan trade was a good move. It's not that Jordan is a bad player, it's just that the Clippers were being cheap about what was then a golden opportunity.

My impression is nobody was too unhappy with DeAndre Jordan, maybe underwhelmed.

He's also playing 50% more minutes than he did before.

Apparently he couldn't stay on the floor because of fouls or something.

But it's probably because VDN is so incompetent.

Let's see how Jordan looks playing a team that has someone slightly better than Jermaine O'Neal at center.

Doc being in LA has helped Jordan immensely.

I guess I should put my foot in my mouth.  Here's what I said:

Jordan and one pick? If Ainge makes that deal, he needs to be fired. We'd be better off getting cap space when KG retired.

I think your comment is logical.  Both Deandre and KG are signed on for two years.  Over the next two years, I am pretty sure KG is going to be a vastly superior player to DeAndre Jordan.. KG will do more for our young players and contribute to our defense. 

And when KG and Pierce finally do retire, we theoretically will have cap space.  If we used that cap space to sign someone like DeAndre Jordan, it would be deemed a massive waste of money.

But I don't think it's about winning games.  It's about bringing in assets and tanking.  Maybe we can flip Jordan for cap space and a pick.

I was wrong about how far KG would fall.  I really underestimated Deandre's impact.

In my defense, Deandre was coming off a season averaging 9 points, 7 boards and 1.4 blocks and making 10 mil a year doing it.  My point was... if you want to blow 10 mil dollars on a role player like Jordan, you'll probably have the opportunity down the line when we're done tanking. 

Didn't really anticipate that he'd get an additional 10 minutes per night and put up the kidn of numbers he's putting up.  Whoops.  He's worth what he's making, I guess. 

Two final thoughts:  #1 - Kudos to Ainge for trying to go for DeAndre... our main man certainly knows talent.  #2 - Credit Doc a bit for DeAndre's arrival.  Great coach.
