He's been pretty bad down the stretch and doesn't look like a real superstar or team leader right now. Say Bird is fed up with the Pacers collapse. Would you do Rondo and a future first for Paul George?

I don't want to create a pacers like atmosphere with Paul George and Hill here. Stevens will go bald. look at Vogel.
Peavey Bass Player - relearning to play after 10 years sucks;

George isn't going anywhere. I do wonder if Hibbert is available if the Pacers are eliminated by the Hawks.

I would trade pretty much anything for George. He is a 23 year old who averages 22 / 7 / 3.5 and leads the league in defensive win shares.

I do think the Indiana experience is a cautionary tale for Ainge. Vogel is a good, young Stevens-like coach, and there's a limit to how many bad apples he can have on the team (Lance, Evan) and still keep them all on the same page. Grange was more important than realized as a locker-room vet reinforcing the young coach's message.

I just think Danny likewise has to be a little more careful about loading up on talented but difficult guys until Stevens builds more of a resume in the NBA.

Obviously.  Indiana would not.

I would.  And if the Grizz pull out their series against OKC I'd consider moving Rondo for Durant too.

INDY hangs up on this one laughing.

Pacers are going to lose in the first round possibly.   George is playing well but he has to transcent greatness if they have a chance to win.

A few years ago this'd have been realistic.

Also, a few years ago people were pulling for Ray Allen for OJ Mayo.

The genius/folly of potential.

Still think we should get Sanders for this reason if he comes "cheap" (his contract sucks butts though).

Thank god I'm not Ainge.

Actually, Sanders' contract works out as not so bad, long term.

The going rate right now for a veteran center who is an elite defender  (and thus among the upper tier of centers overall) is right around where he is paid (11M per, starting this coming season).  So that's not 'cheap', but it's not really overpriced, either.   Consider that Asik's 8M cap hit hides an overall actual pay rate of about the same in his current contract (he's due about 7M of back-due pay that won't count against the cap).  Consider that our own Kris Humphries makes that kind of cash on his current deal.

What makes Sanders' contract somewhat appealing is that it is locked in at that 11M per anum rate through the 2017-18 season.

During that time (starting next season, in fact) the salary cap will go up.  That will raise the market rate for salaries for all free agents, and in particular, for starting big men.   Asik will likely cost a lot more to re-sign after his current contract expires.  Perhaps 12-14M per.

So, having Sanders at 11M locked up for the next 4 seasons  (especially considering he is young and those should be his prime years) is potentially a good deal -- assuming he can stay out of trouble and on the court.
NBA Officiating - Corrupt?  Incompetent?  Which is worse?  Does it matter?  It sucks.

Don't think Indy is dealing George or Hibbert.

Everyone else on their team could be fair game however.

Yup.

I eagerly await BBallTim's explanation of why we're all incorrect, though.
