Seems like a straightforward trade to me - what else would Houston want ?
The Four Celtic Generals:
Russell - Cowens - Bird - Garnett

The Four Celtic Lieutenants:
Cousy - Havlicek - McHale - Pierce

I don't think they'd want Green, when they have Parsons.

Unless they planned to make Green a stretch four in their lineup?

Yeah.  I think it makes more sense for them to just keep Parsons and start Terrence Jones.

Right.

Now, I could see Houston wanting to replace Jones with Carmelo Anthony. That'd be worth trading away Asik.

Houston is such a bad defensive team that I now question how expendable Asik is for them. And if Celts do this, who takes Green's place? This trade seems to rely on drafting Parker.

That could give Houston a threatening three man forward rotation with Parsons, T.Jones and J.Green. Interchangeable pieces that allow them to switch styles of play + create (or negate) matchup advantages.

I think it would be a very good trade for Houston. I'd expect them to make a run at Carmelo Anthony first but I think J.Green would be a very good fall-back option for them if Melo stays in NYC or goes to Chicago.

they need to develop ISIAH CANAAN (future point guard someday)
that is what they need, and a james harden back-up
lets say ben gordon as harden back-up and metta as parson back-up vs. portland playoffs
they also need a floor spacer,

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
The thing is, if we are trading for Asik, then that signals that we are at least going to begin trying to compete. If that's the case, then I have no desire to trade Green, 1) because I am not sure it's worth it (others will disagree) and, 2) Houston really has no need for him.

If we are going big time and trying to acquire Carmelo for the sf position, then I can see doing this, but otherwise it leaves us with a huge gaping hole at sf instead of the one we already have at c...and the c we are getting isn't 'that' amazing.

carmelo will not go anywhere with phil jackson unless you offered 1st round picks or he decides to leave, and houston need hasik specially if howard is injured, the only problem is hasik wants to be a starting center too, or you can move him sometimes to PF,

houston need a back-up center like pachulia mozgov kaman dalembert those kind of players

i can see hasik getting rebounds too, but humphries and sullinger is enough as what can hasik do

if our power forward is also a rebounder why take hasik, its ok to have both rebounding C and PF but we also need some low post scoring at the middle

Houston would want to only give up Asik but C's would/should want more.

Would rather trade Bass to fill the PF slot for them (and maybe a future 2nd or Bogans expendable deal) than Green.

If Green is amenable to a sixth man role, I think it could work out for them.

I think ideally what Houston needs is either a major offensive upgrade at SF or PF (e.g. Melo / Love), or otherwise find a player that can give them significant offensive production and floor spacing at PF, only with better defense.

Millsap or Thaddeus Young would be excellent targets for them.

since rondo gives us 15 assist a game, what we need is a low post scoring center like brook lopez dwight howard pau gasol tim duncan dirk novitzki anderson varejao roy hibbert marcin gortat those kind if big is what we need

our pf can set a pick n roll offense or defense, besides, humphries and sullinger at PF are a good rebounders at there respective size

The combination of Asik being a better player than Green and it being easier to find adequate SFs rather than adequate centers make Asik for Green a no-brainer from a purely basketball/talent perspective.
