I understand what everyone is saying but I don't think we should give up that much for him, unless there's a guarantee he will stick around. I never meant to imply Asik is chopped liver, just that he's not a game-changer.

It also gives me pause that he sat out most of the year just because he lost his starting job. If it only costs Jeff Green or Wallace and next year's Clippers pick, I'd be willing to do that. I'm very optimistic about the players who will be available around 17 in this year's draft.

That team would still need a center, who says we can't get both? I mean, Asik is not going to cost us much in terms of assets. Unless of course, you are hoping for smaller small ball than we had under Doc.

The most successful combinations of coaches and guys they coached in college are probably Fred Schaus and Jerry West, both of whom joined the Lakers in the team's first season in LA after the move from Minneapolis, and John MacLeod, whose solid run with the Phoenix Suns (peaking with a 1976 NBA Finals loss against the Celtics) included his Oklahoma stars Gar Heard (who made the "Shot Heard Round the World to tie Game 5 in double overtime) and Alvan Adams.

It probably doesn't happen that often because the coaches who consistently get great players into their program are the guys likely to become set in one place and not try to coach in the NBA.

I look at this season as a success. our goals were to acquire assets, be flexible enough to make moves for the off season or build through the draft, develop the young guys, & get Brad Stevens acclimated to the NBA. we did all of this.

I am completely shocked we weren't able to move bass, more shocked no playoff team wouldn't jump at taking him as he could have helped a playoff team needing PF depth. i'm wondering if the clippers would have if they could trade with us instead of going after big baby.

if we aren't able to make some moves this summer then i'll start to worry a little. though I think we'll be in better position next yr. with more expiring contracts.

Apparently you didn't have to pay for the NBA package.    I get what you're saying,  it is the current state of the NBA.   But to call this dung pile of an NBA season a success for the Celtics when you have to pay to watch this crap is pretty sad.   The NBA should be ashamed that this is how its league runs.

Agreed. Seeing an expansion team in green is a very difficult thing to tolerate. Funny how the Spurs never seem to need to bottom out like we do.

Check me if I am wrong on this but I think Pitino only recruited Mercer to Kentucky but left and never coached him there.
