Sullinger + Olynk revisited.

Really liking what I'm seeing from Olynk lately. It has me wondering if he can be our starting center at some point. I know his body is nowhere near ready but give him and Sullinger the best possible trainers around and ya never know. If he could just be an average defender and contest shots at the basket without getting in to much foul trouble I would take it. I think if we could get 3 ace defenders at the 1-3 maybe the Sully KO combo could work. Rondo Wiggins Deng? I just love the idea of having to really high iq bigs who could stretch the floor and I think they would complement each other very well. I would like to have a very defensive minded shot blocker behind him though. I know most see KO as a stretch 4 but if you give him the body and another year to his defensive iq maybe he could man the 5. Rondo-Wiggins-Deng-Sullinger-Olynk seems intriguing to me. What do you guys think?

I think if we can find that defensive minded center in a 3 big rotation it could work.  Keep in mind his last 2 games didn't come against teams with big lumbering centers, or very athletic ones. 

Just look at the centers in the east.  Guys like like Vuvicic, the Raptors center, Gortat, Lopez, Hibbert, Jefferson, Noah, Hortford, Chandler, Sanders, Bosh (when they play small) and Noel next year.  I don't think he matches up all that great against any of them.  Ideally IMO he is the first big off the bench that can play the 4 or the 5.  He needs to continue to work on his body.

I don't see both of these guys on the team longterm. Neither are true centers. They are both pf's.  They'd both benefit by having a big down low defensive presence to counterbalance their games. Personally, I'd keep one of them and trade the other as part of deal to add a legit scorer to this team.

I think Gordon makes the most sense if we want to play KO and Sully together when we go small.  We still need a rim protector, though.

Love Sully and KO.....but they an't no centers ......they are going to be nice PF......we need a seriously talented center to actually content with Hibbert
The tank won't stop till we get a REAL center.    One is not going to come here .....like they do the Lakers .....so until we tank deep enough .....hopefully all those sorry teams will actually try next year so we can go 12 and 70 and draft a top center prospect.

Rondo will be 35 years old before Drummond, Love, Cousins, or A Davis demand a trade ......ugh

They are both power forwards.  I'm thinking that a combination of Sully and our top draft pick can help land us a good center this off-season.

I don't think Kelly will be a starter. But he'd be an excellent 6th man.

I love KO though. He knows how to score. Perfect for punch from the bench.

yes, KO and Sully are really both PFs, but different kinds of PF's.  I think they can co-exist on the same team and be productive as long as we can find a big to compensate for their average ability on D.  Both KO and Sully have some serious moves on O.  But it is hard to fairly evaluate them when the team is so bad and has no rim protection.  Even a stop gap big at the 5 next year who can play good d would help with the evaluation process...

They need game time experience to really push their progress along.  Hopefully next year Bass, Hump find new homes to their liking and Sully and KO can get a full year under their belt.

It's not just the past two games... Oly has been on fire for a while now. 

What's his long term position?   Presuming Wiggins/Embiid/Parker/Exum are off the board... who would you want to draft that could fit in with those guys... is there anyone we could draft that could theoretically start with both Oly and Sully?  Or are we heading towards an inevitable trade?  Isn't Gordon, Randle and Vonleh all PF as well?

The problem here is that Olynyk and Sully should not be starting together.  What we need is a center.  My guess is that it will take trading one of them to help us get that center.
