I was just looking at their box score from tonight's game versus the Magic, and Livingston was a DNP-CD despite usually playing a lot (he averages 26 mpg). Also, Gutierrez played 15 minutes tonight, but was a DNP-CD the night before against Miami.

I think the main reason I took note of these things is because I've noticed several instances this season where Teletovic will play 30 minutes and usually score a bunch, but the next game will play only a few minutes and hardly get a chance to contribute.

Anybody have any info as to why these things are the way they are? Is it matchups? I get the concept of matchups, but it still seems like good role players (e.g. Teletovic) should be getting regular minutes. Is this just something weird that Kidd does?

Resting key players/experimenting with lineups  after clinching a playoff spot isn't something that other teams do?

Not that odd..around this time Doc would be strategically resting his older stars. Hell the Pacers rested the entire starters tonight.

We were super close to getting Teletovic for Pierce and KG, too.  He got pulled out by the Nets at the last second

I can answer those.

Livingston: Rest. Like you said, he has played a ton of minutes this year and his first heavy minutes season since that horrific injury. Amazing what he has done to get back to playing again.

Gutierrez: Took Livingstons minutes. He saw some minutes the last few weeks as he was only signed recently so my guess is they were seeing what he can do. 3rd string PG, 12th in rotation.

Teletovic: Doesn't always play the right way. Sometimes the matchups don't favor him. He isn't a great defender, slowish, and takes suspect shots from 3 even though he is a great shooter. He will take shots just to get his shot numbers in, even if a defender is closing on him. Plumlee may take his minutes in the playoffs and push Blatche back to PF. Depends on matchups, heck he played some center against the Heat last game.

I say it now, look out for Brooklyn, if they get to Indiana in the second round an upset is brewing. These guys are deep, and playoff built even without Lopez.

Thank you to those who left serious replies.

D.O.S.: Not sure why you felt the need to be sarcastic. Sure, guys get rested after clinching, but the Nets have had some weird rotations since before they clinched.

Not being sarcastic -- haven't watched the Nets often this year.
