The more I watch Randle the more I see a bigger and stronger Leon Powe.  Powe was one of my favorite players, but I think if there is someone with more upside available I would take that player.

On another note, the Celtics are rebuilding so I disagree with the posters who have said we can't take Randle because we have a lot of power forwards and we can't take Smart because we have Rondo.  Those are ridiculous statements.  We are still collecting talent.  We don't have a core yet so I don't think it matters at all if we already have a good player at the position of the player we draft.  Ainge will take the best player.  Position is irrelevant.

Getting Carl Landry 2.0 would be a bit of a disappointment considering the depth we have at PF on this roster already.

If Randle is the BPA in our pick range, I wouldn't be surprised if Ainge looks to move down a few spots (e.g. trade down with SAC, who could use a starting-caliber PF).

What else would you get in return?

I was thinking Randle could be used to dump Wallace on Utah. And we grab a couple picks in return.

What would they need Randle for with Kanter and Favors?

Last I checked Kanter wasn't doing too good and Favors was playing like a legit defensive center (and not a PF). They could phase out Kanter by getting Randle, who from what I've heard has enough offense potentially to cover Favors's lack thereof (and vice versa with Favors playing enough D to cover Randle). Might have changed.

Ahh, I figured you were reasoning along those lines; I've heard as much about Kanter and Favors, too. That's why Corbin tries not to start them together.  Just wanted to confirm that you hadn't forgotten about Kanter.

A Randle for Kanter trade could be interesting, and i dont know if it is worth doing. Kanter's bad defense at center is a problem. I dont know if it is fixable.

If the Celtics land in the 5-7 range, i feel like a significant trade is coming. The pick and or a combo of Sully, Green, Rondo, or Olynyk could be gone. There is too much position redundancy in that pick range.

I really don't think we could get Kantner for Randle but who knows.  Randle is a short armed PF who doesn't protect the rim well and has somewhat similar skills to Favors (neither is a center).  Why would the Jazz do that trade?

On the subject line I really don't want Randle.  He's just another PF with limitations and we already have Sullinger and KO.  To me if we pick 5th or so I would much rather have Vonleh who's bigger, and has a much bigger upside with the capability to protect the rim.  If not him I'd say Gordon or Smart...

Personally, I'd be very happy with Randle. I would definitely first look to see if I could get an established vet in exchange for a package which would include Randle if need be.

However, if the Celts drafted Randle, I'd be cool with that.

Also, who's to say that Randle won't end up being a better player than Sullinger. I can almost guarantee he ends up being a better player than Olynyk as I think Olynyk is at best, a primary back-up.

10th pick is still in play if we win the next 5, Utah/LA/Sec lose their next 5, and 3 teams behind us leapfrog us into the Top 3.

Doug McDermott is our pick.

If we are drafting 5th, I'd much rather go with Vonleh or Gordon if we are taking a big, or Smart if a guard.

Randle's defense is AWFUL and I don't think his offense will be much better than Sullinger who also features range up to 3 point land.  Randle is a bad fit for Boston.

If we take Doug McDermott with ANY of our 1st round picks I will first throw up in my mouth and then go egg your house.

I will join you (although I'll probably vomit in my own mouth, if that's all right).
