There is a lot discussion about Exum; but Smart seems to be ranked above him in some mock drafts. Smart is a freak athlete. Like Wade only w/ PG skills. Exum looks very smooth; but can't help thinking he would get eaten alive in the NBA. Way too skinny; but does seem to be able to absorb contact and still score. Both seem to have plenty of confidence; but can't help thinking that Smart is more NBA ready, while Exum may have more potential in the long run.

Interesting Contrast.

Neither.

Don't need em .

Embiid , Parker , Wiggins , Randle

This is why we must tank like crazy .....for a top four pick.

So not have to even think about those two

Randle has his team in the finals .  The others don't.

Exum, I think, will be better in the long run. Smart will be better his first couple of years because of his strength/quickness combo. Both are nothing to write home about as shooters.

Little tough for Exum to get his team in the finals from Australia.

*CB Miami Heat*
Kyle Lowry, Dwayne Wade, 13th pick in even numbered rounds, 18th pick in odd numbered rounds.

Ok work with me here. "Exum or Smart ?" assumes that Embiid, Wiggins and Parker are off the table. I actually think that we don't need Randle and would rather have a successor to Rondo in the wings. Someone who can play the Bayless role as is suggested in the Exum thread. Pressey is not going to cut it. Bradley is fragile. You need someone with size that can support Rondo and sub for him when needed. How many 6'-8" or 6'-9" guy can you have on one team? Randle is not our guy.

There is a lot more video on Exum than there was at the beginning of the season. He made the US team look like they were playing in mud. Amazing steals, blocks, rebounds. Gorgeous shot. I think he could be the best of the bunch. A more athletic and smaller KD. His father Cecil played with MJ at UNC. Very smart player, who uses his body extremely well.

I'd go with Smart but only because I've seen more of him. Think he's going to be a real special player. Athletic, good defender, high I.Q. with great playmaking skills. I'd take him as over Randle honestly.

This is why we must tank like crazy .....for a top four pick.

We could forfeit the rest of our games and we'd still not be guaranteed a top four pick.  The only team guaranteed that is Milwaukee, and there is no way we catch them.  Even if we tied Orlando for third worst record(which is about the best possible scenario), we would be looking at about a 40% of falling out of the top 4.  Odds are will have anywhere from the fourth to sixth worst record, where we will be looking anywhere from a 50% to 80% chance of falling out of the top four.

So we can wish for a top three pick, but odds are we're gonna be looking at a pick in the 5-7 range.

I'd go with Exum for the upside, but you can't go wrong with Smart either.  Both are great prospects.

Well I knew why you posed the question.  Sully is really the only 'untouchable' on this roster, IMO. If there is no obvious elite big man past Embiid then you go for the best guard/wing. Regardless of whether you keep Rondo.

Got to go with Exum.  Smart's inability to shoot the ball consistenty + Rondo inability to shoot consistently = big trouble

Yes Smart can do alot of other things but if guards have to do one thing well or at least be ok in, is shooting jump shots.  Exum at least is decent in this department

Exum, for sure. If we fall out of the top 5, I would be happy to pick up Smart. Randle could be very good, but I don't like him enough to choose talent over need. Really - Smart, Randle, Gordon, and Vonleh are all a coin flip until we get closer to the draft and get more in depth info on these guys.

You got to prepare for the worst, what if the Celtics land in 6th place despite finishing fourth?

Exum, hands down.  I wouldn't be surprised if he's the best player in this draft when it's all said and done.  How many lightning quick guards that get to the basket at will have we seen come into the NBA and become stars in the past few years?  I can't think of a highly drafted guy who fits that description that didn't become a very good player.  Plus, he has great size and length for either guard position
