Does this mean that BleedGreen might end up sporting that "Sorry for Jabari" tagline in his profile for another 365+ days?

Guys, this is much ado about nothing.

Parker has already declared and been selected by Boston.

See, I have proof!...

Certainly wouldn't help make the case for tanking this year

... but it strengthens the case for tanking next year.

If Parker returns to Duke, teams tanking for next season will probably be trying to lose some more for Okafor.

Curious to eat from you guys pros an cons of a lineup of rondo Stephenson green Parker Sullinger. Assuming we can't find a way to get a center this offseason.

Yeah if only we had tried we would be a 2 seed right?

Yes, because watching an awful team assembled just for the chance to draft a needle in a haystack is so much more enjoyable than watching a competitive team every night.

The reports will change daily till he makes an official announcement.  Just speculation till then.

I can't see what good staying will do.  ,  his career isn't about a college degree anyway. Waiting around for an ACL injury doesn't make sense .

At the end of the day if your a projected top five pick.....you come out , sign for a big paycheck,  help your family and get on with your career.

His presence at college would a distraction for the rest of the team.....it would be all about him every minute .  Media madness

Coach K. Probably has three more McDonalds All American signed and waiting anyway.

It would just suck.....knowing you are likely to be stuck on the Bucks , Jazz , or 76's for several years. ;D..........or Orlando the Lakers big man training camp

Question: if Parker were to bypass this year's draft, he'd be the presumptive favorite for #1 overall next year, yes?

Not necessarily -- look at Marcus Smart

I don't understand why some people just do not understand that some kids who will eventually play in the NBA like the college life and believe in getting a college education. Many of these kids are extremely self aware and know they probably aren't ready for an NBA lifestyle in a maturity or mental aspect.

College is safe for them. College is a new learning experience for them. College is important to them.

And maybe some of these kids have parents that have pushed the idea that being in the NBA is great but what is better is using your physical abilities to achieve a top notch education so that if something serious occurs and you can't play basketball, you can do something else in your life.

In today's world of money is everything get it as early as you can, there's still a ton of examples of players going 4 years, getting their education and still having long, fruitful, successful careers where they made more money than anyone should be able to spend in a lifetime.

Parker is going to make the decision that is right for him. If his decision is to stay, then that's the best decision for him, though it may not necessarily be the best decision for someone else.

Okafor and Turner are suppose to be two of the best big men prospects in awhile apparently. I think Parker goes third behind those two if he stays. Just like he'll go third this year.
PHX Suns: Russell Westbrook, Chris Bosh, Tristan Thompson, Trevor Ariza, Tony Allen, Trey Lyles, Corey Brewer, Larry Nance Jr., Trey Burke, Troy Daniels, Joffrey Lauvergne, Justin Holiday, Mike Muscala, 14.6

Almost certainly so although there are a few bigs that are projected to be one & done after next season that these mock draft sites seem to be pretty high on at the moment.  A solid college season from them could certainly change the narrative.

Is that Okafor related to Emeka?

Not that I disagree, necessarily, but two points:

A) If you get injured you're losing your scholarship and you may not be able to pay to finish that college education. Then you're just screwed.

B) You are aware that Parker's going to Duke when you talk about a "top notch education," right?  :P

.....exactly, and if he comes out now, his future (basically for the rest of his life with sound $$ mgmt) IS guaranteed.

NO guarantees if he stays in...NONE.

I've never really contemplated the math, but presumably a guy like Parker could afford to buy a $1M or more insurance policy. Might cost him something like $10k to cover a catastrophic injury.

Obviously he'd make more than that in the NBA, but with a little care would have a nice cushion in place regardless. He can blow out his knee in the NBA next year too, resulting in a helluva lot less money than a 10+ year career.
