Which would be great, We could slide him right in at two guard and let Rondo feed him the ball and make him into a scorer, and of course he still would be a play maker given his passing abilities.

So know are core is Rondo. Exum, Sullinger. Who do you want ideally with the second pick.
Realistic options include, James Young,  Mcdermott, Cauley Stein, Dakari Jhonson, Tj Warren, Harzell, Maybe Levine, Or Kyle Anderson will be there,

Speaking of Anderson that team would obviously lack in shooting,  but can you have two many playmakers and great passers on one team? If we picked up a really good rebounding and defensive center to go along with sully how many wins could that team get? They could be great in transition.

In reality though if we land Exum with  are first pick. Willy C Stein would be fantastic. We would instantly have a legit basketball team.

 Willy Cauly-Stein
 Sullinger
 Jeff Green
 Dante Exum
 Rajon Rondo

But if the Good Bigs are gone I say Draft TJ Warren, Anderson, Hartzell, Mcdermott, or Hood one of those guys will be available and we can give Green one more chance to shine or we start a rookie instead and move in a new direction.

Since Exum is only 18, should the Celtics end up drafting him, I wouldn't be surprised if Ainge re-signed Bradley with the intention of having Exum come off the bench for his first season or two.

Exum would make things very interesting for the celtics.

He was quoted in an article (cant remember source) saying that he wants to come right in and play PG in the NBA and used the clippers as a team he doesnt want to play for because of Chris Paul. I have a feeling this isnt a hard lined stance but more of a preference and a talk between Exum, his agent, stevens, and DA would clear this up.

Still leaves a strong possibility of Rondo being moved. I would 100% resign AB if Exum is drafted. As long as its not for crazy money AB and Exum seem like a great pairing.

If I where in DA position next year after landing Exum I would hope for WCS or the french league kid Capela to be available with the second pick. Both are at least a year away from contributing any minutes but could be the teams rim protector of the future.

Say the Cs have a all foreign draft of Exum and Capela. I would pencil Exum into Bayless's current role and built the rest of the team with the goal being middle of the pack playoff team without losing to many future assets. As the 6th man Exum will be able to get plenty of minutes because he can be primary backup at 1 and 2 as well as play some 3 against less physical wings. The biggest hole is still going to be at center with the often mentioned Asik being a likely target. (I would figure Bass to be included in package for center).

2014-15

PG     Rondo
SG     AB
SF     Green
PF     Sully
C      Asik (other options Okafor, Gortat, Kyle O'Quin )
6th   Exum
7th   KO
8th   Wallace
9th   Johnson
10th Anthony
11th Capela
12th Pressey

With a healthy offseason for Rondo and Sully, a real center, and at least Bayless level production from Exum. I think this team would be on pare with the current Raptors, Bulls, and Nets teams in the east. Making them slightly above .500 and a 5-6 seed in the playoffs next year.

Wouldn't it be more interesting to draft Wiggins and put him at the 2 spot? He's just as explosive as Exum and obviously has far more potential as a defender due to his size 6'8 and huge wingspan 7'0. Exum probably has better passing instincts but I believe Wiggins' shooting and rebounding makes him a better overall player than Exum. I'll be ecstatic to have Wiggins as our SG of the future, Exum would be great too, but not at the expense of the 1st pick.

I would love to have Mcbuckets with our second pick, but I think he'll be picked at around 9-12. He's so polished offensively that he's a guaranteed decent scorer in the NBA. What we lack currently is some consistent scoring punch from our players and I think Mcdermott can fit into that role perfectly. He seems like a player that would excel in Brad Steven's system. I can see him being someone that's not gonna be an all-star, yet a great complimentary player for the future, ala KO. That will be of great value of our second pick.

I think the OP meant with our first draft pick - not the first overall draft pick. Currently, we are looking to be somewhere in the 4-7 range which is where Exum is slotted to go.

Wait, how are we going to get Parker (strike gold) AND Exum?  I mean, that would be nice, but I don't see how.

Surely, we're not equating drafting Exum with "striking gold".

Did you like Adam Morrison, too, just curious?

I don't understand people's love for WCS, he is a terrible basketball player....I would be extremely disappointed if the C's drafted him.  I guess fans didn't learn their lesson from Fab Melo....

Obviously we all have watched Parker play and have only read about Exum, watched him in one all star game, and seen you tube vidoes. But reading what scouts have to say drafting this kid would be striking gold. I feel Embiid, Wiggins, Parker and Exum would all constitute this team striking gold at this point

Nope.

But the difference between Morrison and Mcdermott is that we have a totally different expectation from these guys. Adam Morrison was overhyped to be the "next Larry Bird" and that was simply unrealistic and dumb. He was picked way too high at the 3rd and he coudn't live up to where he's picked. If he were to be picked in the mid to late first round, I believe he might still be the nba now playing off the bench, something like Joel Anthony's role tho.

On the flip side, Mcdermott has a pretty clear role in the nba as we all know he's gonna contribute on the offensive end yet his defense will leave something to be desired. He'll at least become someone like Kyle Korver or Mike Miller in his career being a 3-pt specialist IMO. If probable, getting him at somewhere at 16-18 will be of great value, unlike Adam morrison, who's a complete waste of a 3rd pick.

Calling Exum gold at a position not of need strikes me as a big reach, at this point.
Coined the CelticsBlog term, "Euromistake."

I like your post and would like to draft Anderson if he lats till our second choice.

The knock on his shooting was justified his freshman year, but not this year. He worked on his shot a lot in the offseason, and IIRC he shot close to 50% from 3 land this year.

I haven't once thought of a scenario where drafting Exum means we are "striking gold" but rather "missing out" on one of the top five picks.
