Pierce probably realizes the Nets won't be a legit contender next season, even with Lopez returning from injury. Does Pierce take less money and sign with a contender? I would personally love seeing Pierce be the rugged veteran who puts a team like OKC or Houston over the top to end his career because PP can still ball. but I'm not sure if he'd desert KG in Brooklyn like that. Where do you think PP ends up after this season?

Honestly I really hope he comes back to boston he didn't say no to the idea and I would really like to see him retre in green. But I would also like to see him win another ring. I wouldn't put the clippers out of it, like you said okc or maybe golden state even the spurs it jus depends really.

As a good bench player, sure. But if the Celtics have to play small ball, to get Pierce minutes, I would say no.

Pierce will either re-sign with the Nets, come back to Boston, or sign with one of the LA teams (probably the Clippers).  I can't see him doing anything else.

I think KG retires this summer and Pierce goes to LA to play for Doc.

I don't think he cares about NJ at all and I think you can see it when he plays.  I wouldn't be surprised if he comes back if we have a good offseason. Other than that I think he takes the MLE to go somewhere like OKC. It'll depend on the playoffs

I don't know why Pierce would think that the Nets aren't a contender next year.  With a year together under their belts -- and a half-season W-L record that is among the elite teams in the East, they should be thinking that next year, with Lopez back, will be better.   Blatche/Plumlee, KG, AK, JJ, PP, DWill, Thornton, and an MLE.  A pretty solid team to contend for the East in 2014-15.
Why won't KG be back?  Anyone here spoken with him lately?  He makes $12M  if he stays, and I think that's a compelling reason to compete for one more year.

yep. If anyone had any doubts about who was the brain power in the Danny-Doc relationship, seeing Doc sign Glen Davis this season as de facto GM and end up having security escort him to the locker room during a game, KG and Pierce deteriorating on a poor Nets team, while Danny stockpiled a war chest of assets for Doc, KG, and Pierce is proof enough.

Kg hasn't played in a month ( I think) with back spasms. If he feels like his body isn't going to be right or if he feels like he can't contribute, he'll retire. He's made plenty money and he's said that before.

Me too.  I don't want him back here, I don't want to live in the past.  His legacy in Boston is intact without the need to have him retire as a Celtic.

I guess my point is that you never know.  Neither of us know the extent of his pain (it may be strategic for him to not play and save him for the playoffs), and netither of us know the prognosis for six months from now.  I could give you a lot of reasons why even a guy who has made plenty of money might decide to want more.   But I would agree that it won't surprise me if KG is someone who would pass up the money if he wasn't feeling he could contribute.

I think that it's true his legacy is intact, but I also think he retires a Celtic.

And as far as needing to play small ball, it really depends on our offseason. Especially if it looks like another down year, having Pierce around to mentor Jabari or Wiggins (shut up we're getting one!) would be fantastic. It's unlikely, because I doubt Pierce wants to hangout for a rebuild, but Id like it, personally.

Pierce is still a beast.  He'd be the best offensive player on this team this year if he was still here.

Check out his shooting percentages this month:  49%/45%/83% ... still putting stats all over the board.  Key player helping Brooklyn land a high seed in the East.  He's still a player. Would love to have him back.  I'd say he could be a great player off our bench, but if we don't make some major moves, he'd probably still probably be one of our 2 best players next season even at his advanced age.

I agree with this.

Pierce has the kind of game that, barring explicit injury, ages well.
