  • A true Celtic plays with heart.
You can tell this guy wants to win.. But he also wants to call out his team by the, "I'm allowed to have an off game now and then." I think Love needs to step it up, but what else can he do? The Wolves are terrible...

Would he really want to re-sign in Boston if we did trade for him?

It's based on your perspective, quite simply
We're the same and we're not; know what I'm saying? Listen
Son, I ain't better than you, I just think different

Everyone agrees with him, even the best have bad nights, I just don't think you say it as the leader and best player on the team. He should have said I had a bad night but all I can do is come out and be better the next game or I just had a bad game and move on. As the person he is he shouldn't have the mindset that he can have a off night, he should be so confident that he thinks he is going to kill every night and the bad game happens, not that oh well, if I don't play well tonight it doesn't matter, I'm allowed to. Like LeBron (blegh) will say I had a bad night, I just have to play better. He will say others need to step up too but not that I'm so good I can play bad and be fine every now and then.

I know Love is frustrated but you gotta be the leader through the good and bad, the guys who follow you watch what you say and do.
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

Hmmm...there was another Kevin that had a frustrating season before he left Minny, too......and he ended up in BOS :)

Work it, Danny!

I can almost see KG's face from that season before he came in a similar interview right in front of the lockers..I remember something very similar...
2025 Fantasy Draft Philadelphia 76ers:
PG: Rajon Rondo '11-'12;  WestBrook; Wall
SG: James Harden '18-'19 Marcus Smart
SF: Andrei Kirilenko '05-'06; Peja Stojakovic
PF: Anthony Davis '17-'18;   Kevin Love, Griffin
C: Amare Stoudemire '04-'05;   Marcus Camby

Except this Kevin won't make half the impact the other Kevin did.
You can't reason someone out of a position they didn't reason themselves into.

Yeah, this is where I'm trying to temper my expectations...

There will NEVER be another Kevin Garnett....but I'd LOVE for KLove to give BOS a shot if he leaves Minny.

He wouldn't bring the same defensive intensity, but Kevin Love is a Top Ten player in the league in his prime, IMO.

Here is KG's emotional interview with John Thompson - I'll never forget it:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SpAv_ao7rBs

The similarities are there (with KLove), but KLove hasn't lead his team even close to what KG did in Minny - and kLove may have more talent around him.

KLove hasn't suffered enough, yet....but should he? But that same suffering that KG did in Minny is what made him who is he today, made him hungry.

I'd love to pair him with Rondo (and another star) if I could.

I'd say Love is tired first and foremost.  However if there is a chance we can get him, all in!  Guy is a leader and wants to win.  Minny hasn't given him the supporting cast that rondo and ainge can
 ;)

Yep.  One of ESPN's stat guys, Kevin Pelton I believe, has Love ranked 3rd this year behind Durant and Lebron.  He says that with Love on the bench the Wolves are equivalent to the Sixers.

A couple points as somebody who attends a lot of Wolves games.  I think Love is at the end of his rope.  He still plays hard, but his frustration with his team and the league is at an all time high.  He's NOT a natural leader, but he is a personable guy and I think he finds himself playing alongside "friends" who just can't get it done.  Some other team notes...

Martin has been pretty solid.  You might not like his efficiency, but he's the go-to ISO guy when they need a bucket.  He takes a lot of tough shots and he's been consistent when healthy.

Rubio is a fringe NBA player.  I don't care what the numbers or highlight reels say, opposing coaches exploit him in most games.  He's shooting better recently, but it comes and goes, and when it goes it really goes.  You don't know if it's gonna hit rim or backboard first.  He is exceptional at getting in the passing lanes.

A few guys commented the other day that they don't think Love is an elite player.  Maybe they were trolling.  If not, they're crazy.  Love is top 10.  Arguably the best rebounder in the league.  THE best 3pt shooting big.  Off-the-charts IQ.  Elite post up game.  Number 3 in PER behind you-know-who.  Blake is the only PF who's been better this year, and if you paired Love with Deandre Jordan, that would probably change.  Honorable mention to Davis.

If you have a chance to get Love on a long-term deal, you absolutely do it.  Olynyk, Bradley, filler, and both our 1st round picks?  Yes.  No question.

I think Olynk and Bradley more or less constitute filler.

But I'm not high on Kevin Love. I'd like to see him on a .500 team before I annoint him a must have player.
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

Love is the second worst rim protector in the league after only Nikola Pekovic, but I think that he would be a lot better with a real defensive center next to him.  This whole thing is crazy because Pek has a 9'5" standing reach and is a pretty strong dude, he is just too slow.

Love is in the 8th - 12th best player in the league range and Love + a real center + Rondo +our pick this year could be competitive real fast.  If they took Sully + Nets pick 2014 pick + Green + Philly 2015 pick + Clippers 2015 pick for him, I would be floored.  I don't know how we'd get a center because the asking price for Asik is pretty high and I doubt we'll end up with Embiid.

If we could trot out though

Rondo / Bradley / Gerald Wallace? / Love / Embiid

or

Rondo / Bradley / Wiggins-Parker / Love / Asik

or

Rondo / Bradley / Aaron Gordon-Saric-TJ Warren / Love / Asik

I think we'd be pretty competitive in the East, although Miami and Indy would both probably beat us in a 7 game series

Rubio sucks.....  I see nothing to his games but missed shots and turn overs

He is soooooooooooo...over rated

Love is by himself on that team

He has no help .
