Espn lists him at 260, Basketball reference lists him at 280. He looks at least 280 to me.

I cant help but think of how much better he could be when I watch him if he could really pull a "Kevin Love" and work on his body.

How much weight does he ultimately need to lose if he is to play mostly PF next season?

50 lbs.

See that? An arbitrary number for an arbitrary question.

In a perfect world, zero. However, having bring down his body fat percentage considerably is the key. I would love to see him hire a top notch nutritionist.

Because there's really no way to figure out what Sullinger's optimal playing weight is.

I think when somewhat heavy bigs come into the league, the ones that lose weight and change their body types (Perk and Big Al, for instance) do the weight loss/weight training over the summer. Sully was unable to last summer, but I'm hopeful he'll be in better shape next year.

I suppose, but that's why a thread exists. Disussion.

If he's 280, he's got a lot of junk on him...I think 20-25 pounds of baby fat. If he's 260ish, maybe it will be more like 10-15 pounds - diet, heavy cardio and light rep work.

He needs to find the optimal weight that gives him the best mobility while maintaining all his strength.

I think he should go full Round Mound and try to break 300.

Didn't work out too good for Perkins.  So I say keep the weight

The extra weight may have helped him some this year playing lots of center.  If he moves over to power forward full time which I think should happen, some weight loss will help.

Worked out pretty good for Perk until the knee injury, two trips to the finals as a starting center compared to likely out of the league if he'd kept the weight on.

If he can control his eating habits and get a good diet, i think he start start doing heavy weight training and cut the fat and build muscle.

He'll only get stronger and more athletic from it.
