What? per Woj

They're going to implement a system here – the triangle offense – and Jackson plans to pursue Steve Kerr to come coach the Knicks. Jackson had convinced Kerr to come to Seattle as his coach, league sources told Yahoo Sports, only to have those plans foiled when a purchase agreement with the Sacramento Kings fell apart.

This has been talked about for a few weeks now. Kerr has openly been stating he wants to coach and is actively seeking a head coaching job.

Oh, yeah, he's going to the Knicks. It's a matter of when, not if.

The Seattle part was the "what" factor.

You hand't heard about that? Phil had his entire team lined up to run the new "Sonics" if the Kings relocated.

Yeah, somehow I missed this whole thing... and, actually, I have no idea how.

I agree.

But I am excited that the Triangle's coming back to the NBA.

I think Woj is trying to poison the well by getting Jimmy Dolan's Irish up.

Sanctimonious Woj is the best Woj.

All time great Head Coach as President of Basketball Operations hires former GM as Head Coach. Leave it to the Knicks to conclude that this sounds right.

Let me go see if my plumber can find a good general contractor to fix my toilet.

LOL. Nice. I've had similar thoughts, but most people seem to be caught up in the hype. Phil is apparently a great motivator as a coach, but coaching is a lot different from GMing. The Knicks have no true assets outside of Melo, and their cap situation sucks for the foreseeable future. Does Phil have a magic zen wand that no other GM has?

Knicks cap situation is actually pretty good as they have only like 12 million (and that is if Felton and Smith exercise player options) on the books for the 15-16 season.  In other words, they will be major players in free agency in the summer of 2015 when a number of high level free agents could be available.  They are stuck this summer, but going forward they are in a pretty good place at least financially.  They seriously lack assets which is a big problem however, especially if Anthony leaves them high and dry this summer.
