First off, though I've gone back and forth on the deal Danny made with Brooklyn last summer, I do understand why he did it.
I suppose it was probably time to finally "blow it up" and take a year to go into "asset accumulation" mode or whatever you want to call it.
However, as we are about to enter the spring (thank God) and with playoffs right around the corner, I think this is probably the time where we (at least I) will miss Pierce the most (and to a slightly lesser extent, KG.)
As a Celtics fan, I find it sad that this will be the first year since 2007 that we will miss the playoffs. As a result, you can't help but miss the one guy who was always synonymus with our playoff runs.
With all the attention the Bruins, Pats and Red Sox get either because of their playoff runs, opening week or nfl draft in April, Paul was always the one guy who represented how exciting it was to be a Celtic fan come playoff time
I also think Paul was a VERY big reason why Ainge finally decided to quit his "youth movement" back in 2007 and finally assemble a championship caliber team and the reason why we saw 6 seasons of great playoff basketball from '07-13.
And admittedly, the 29 points he dropped on Lebron and the Heat last week certainly plays a role as well in the sentimental fondness of the Captain as well.
Anyway, funny how alot of times, you appreciate a guy that much more after he's gone. Maybe this time next year, we'll be talking about playoff seeding and matchups with number 34 back where he belongs.
