Wow, i just watched the 3rd installment of his video series, and it was clear that the money is something he does not want to give up. Taken out of context it is a brutally honest statement.
But he also said his primary motivation to keep working and keep playing, is to prove to himself that he can still play at a high level.
Also in regards to the money, who would walk away from 10 million dollars? I dont care who you are, you want the money that is owed to you. Fans dont want to hear that, but it is the truth. 10 million dollars is a lot of money. Especially when this is the last time he can get it.
The athletes we admire are playing for the love of the game, yes. But, make no mistake, they are also playing in the NBA so that they can be rich, very rich, and get lots and lots of money.
I actually Admire Nash for speaking honestly. Having said that, i am glad it is the Lakers turn to deal with a contract albatross that cant get onto the court.
