Offseason moves

Do not resign
Humphries
Pressey
Avery Bradley

Trade
Faverani and Jeff Green to Hawks for Demarre Carroll ,2014 15th and 47th pick

2014 draft picks
3rd - parker
15th - stauskas
18th - willie cauley stein
47th - russ smith

Starting lineup
C) WCS - Rim protection to deter opposing players from driving in. Lob target for easy dunks. Tyson Chandler like defensive impact

PF) Sullinger - beast rebounder , tip ins, post scoring. Temporarily can guard centers

SF) Parker - fan favorite around here. Game like Melo. Still young to improve defense and body

SG) Stauskas - deadly 3 pt shooter. High iq and plays with effort on both ends. Good height for a sg

PG) Rondo - assist totals should increase.

Bench
Iverson, anthony
KO, Bass
Wallace, Carroll
Johnson
Smith

Parker and Stauskas are not great defenders but are talented offensively.  WCS would provide the rim protection that we desperately lack, and has the ability to save his teammates on the defensive end.  Not a big fan of any of these picks on their own but each would fill some big voids the team currently has.

Can this lineup make the playoffs as soon as next season?

Nope = young draft picks not ready to shoulder that weight. Need more experience.

In your opinion how long would it take then?

with those moves, we MIGHT, MIGHT sneak in at the 8th spot if lucky and probably a sweep from the 1st seed. As the above said, Parker and other rookies are not ready to take on that kind of load. Not to mention our bench will be awful...

I think Jabari Parker's defense is so bad that he is 3-4 seasons away from truly becoming a star player in the NBA. I think he'll put up a lot of empty stats his first few years. Like Durant did his first two seasons.

WCS is an unconvincing defender at the college level. Doesn't have good enough defensive fundamentals / positioning. I cannot believe he'd be ready to be a starting center right out the gate. Really good physical tools though. He is the type of multi-year big man project you love to have on your roster. But I think he'll be a backup center his first year or two and probably not a very good one to begin with. Hopefully by year 3 he'd be ready to start.

Stauskus = I don't know anything about him.

Russ Smith = 3rd string PG

It is a young team.  But also talented. You dont need to be a vet to know how to score or shoot the ball.  WCS presence would be required to save some of these guys on the defensive end though (or comparable)

btw I disagree smith is a 3rd string nba pg. He will be a capable backup imo.  Fearless, quick, winner

Is Klay Thompson a good comp for Nik Stauskas?

Thompson has better quickness, athleticism. But  yeah similar in terms of size, ball handling, iq, and especially three pt shooting ability. He has added ability to drive and finish and a dribble, stop and step back jumpers.

The problem I would have with that team is the lack of defense.

I am not convinced WCS is ready to be the answer to Boston's lack of interior defense. So I think the Celtics will continue to have problems there. Then the Celtics would be letting Avery Bradley leave (best guard defender) and trading Jeff Green (best defensive SF) which seriously comprises their perimeter defense too.

I look at the players coming in and I just don't think they are ready to defend at a good enough level for Boston to make a playoff push.

There is defense you can utilize from the bench when you need to. Bass , wallace, johnson, smith are all capable. Hopefully KO imrpoves and Iverson is a tough customer that  can provide good service in limited mins

WCS I think will add another 10 pounds of muscle for the nba. That would bring up closer to 250 pounds. He also plays football and not shy about getting physical.  Sullinger also is a big load to deal with down low. That quickness and ability to sky for block shots from wcs could really help.

The fundamentals will need work but  you cant teach , timing and blocking shots that are not usually possible. WCS from what I seen of him also is no Fab Melo. Has a higher bbiq and doesnt turnover the ball much

Yep.  That team would have a bright future, and I think they'd look really nice at times, but there's too much youth there to make the playoffs.

The team above would have trouble winning 20 games in the NBA next year.

Yeah that team would be 3 years away from beginning to sniff the playoffs. Next year they might win 20-25 games. Teams filled with rookies rarely do well. Rondo cant be the only vet presence.

Parker's defense needs a lot of work. Sullinger has yet to prove he can defend forwards or centers. WCS is a skinny center and will take years to build his body, and to learn the fundamentals of playing the hardest position to defend and learn in the nba. Maybe in a few years he becomes a poor man's Tyson Chandler - which could be really nice for a mid first pick.
