Just wondering if anybody had any info in him? I saw him in a mock draft us taking him at 17 description "He is a physical presence down low on the defensive end, and he can control the glass and score from the post. All it will take is one team to take a chance on the international star, and that team will be the Boston Celtics in their quest to land a dominant big of the future.". So what do you guys know?

He is a Bosnian player who plays in Croatia, so i have seen alot of his games. Very, very raw. In a game against Colton Iverson didn't show much. I wouldn't waist our first on him.
But on other side...Dario Šarić fired his agent and plans to stay a year or two in Europe. Chad Ford says that will hurt his draft stock. If he slides to Brooklyn pick, Danny Ainge must pick him. Šarić is multitalented player. With our young roster we can afford to have Šarić oversees until Wallace contract expires.

I like that idea a lot. He could be the eventual replacement to Jeff green. Ford said if he was in college he would be in the top 10. Another year or two could only help polish his game even more.

I'd be fine with Saric at 18 and trying to acquire a 2nd round pick for Nurkic.  Seems like gambles worth the risk if there isn't someone that falls that is clearly more talented.  Cauley-Stein is falling rapidly as well.  If we could get him in the 2nd or late first it might be worth trading the Clippers pick.

gotta admit, that 2nd first round pick is a complete mystery to me (when in most years I'd be super excited about it)

I'm so focused on that top pick that if we get anyone useful with the 2nd first rounder it will a complete pleasant surprise

or to put it another way, I'll have LOTS of opinions about the top pick while I'll pretty much just trust Danny to pick the right guy with the 2nd pick (if we don't trade it)

I think less of a strong opinion is necessary for the second pick. I expect our pick at 18 will be someone who falls on draft day. I would love it if a big fell like Nurkic or Willie Cauley-Stein, would be happy with a shooter like Stauskas or PJ Hairston, or an athletic wing project like Jeremi Grant or Montrezl Herrel. I think if everyone stays in, there is a lot of depth in this draft. I wouldn't be surprised if both rookies become rotation players next year.

I only live in Massachusetts but a bunch of his games are on youtube.  From what I've seen, he is not raw at all.  He's got a very developed low post game with nice touch and a very quick release.  I'm confident in saying he's better than most NBA bigs playing with his back to the basket since most bigs can't do squat down there.

The thing that surprised me most was his passing ability.  His passing ability is not accurately reflected in his tiny 0.6 assist average.  In the game against Colton Iverson for instance, he made a nice shovel pass to a cutting teammate and then a few possessions later, threw a pinpoint diagonal pass out of the post with no hesitation.  With bigs and passing, it's almost like they can do it or they can't and there's no in between.  When a big can complete two passes like that in short order and look like a natural while doing it, that puts him in a narrow percentile.

The worst aspect to his game is his leaping ability but he's not a bad athlete at all.  He has very nice balance and really gets off his feet quickly.

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
I've been (I qoute IP) banging his drum since I saw his Draftexpress Draft Profile:

As triboy said, he lacks vertical leaping ability, he doesnt get off the ground that high. But with that negative comes his postives. (I'm basing the video of course).

For a 19 year old, he seems strong, and his game style says he doesn mind being physical. He has quick feet and he has some solid post moves. He has some solid measurements as it comes to lenght, height and weight.

He's also rising. When I started mentioning him in the 2014 Draft Discussion Thread, he was projected 22nd. After a month and solid performance in Europe (care of BleedGreen1989 catching a twitter post from Draftexpress), he's now projected 11th.

I don't think we can get him very late.

Considering we got Sully with pick 21 and Rondo with pick 21... yeah some good players could slide down to our 2nd 1st rounder, which should be around 17/18 territory.

Here's the draftexpress profile on Nurkic --
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sx2IXpr5Wzk&feature=player_embedded

He looks like a banger out there.  Tall, long, strong.  Also has surprising footspeed for a big man.  But he needs a lot of work on his fundamentals.  But basically he looks like a bear out there.  Could be real hard to handle once he gets going.

If we go small with our 1st pick, say Wiggins or Exum, we need to go big with our 2nd pick.

It seems like there are a number of decent wing prospects in the mid 1st round, so I'm hoping we end up with one of those guys (Young, Hood, Warren etc).

DraftExpress does such a good job on their profiles.  It's funny, because when you get done with their positives, you're thinking 'This guy looks like a phenomenal prospect', and then the air goes out of the balloon after you see their negatives.  All in all, a very balanced perspective given by them.

Anyway, this guy does look like he's got a lot of tools, and he also looks like he's a couple years away from coming into his own.  He's definitely worth a look with our second pick, although he may not last that long.

Yeah -- Stauskas, Harris, Anderson, McDaniels are some other names.

I am just not sold on risking a first on Cauley-Stein...Especially when NBAdrafts comparison on him is Dan Gadzuric.
