Kobe done for the year, Kobe & Magic question Lakers direction

Pretty interesting article on Kobe & Magic.  Sounds like they might be putting pressure on Jim Buss to either make a coaching move or some other adjustments to speed up their rebuild / retool.  Not sure exactly what to call their process.  Makes me 1000% happier that we have DA and some decent owners.

Yeah I don't see how D'antoni is the problem, except that he isn't Phil Jackson.  I was impressed how the lakers beat the thunder the other night.  Probably can't count on 40+ points from J. Meeks very often though.

I am not sure that Phil is going to do a lot better with the current roster.

Can't see the Lakers giving a young up-and-coming guy a chance, though that might be the smartest move.

Lionel Hollins, George Karl, Van Gundy, and the other Van Gundy are out there.

I think we should be rooting for Vinny del Negro to somehow end up as the Lakers coach.

I'm pretty sure that the Lakers have made much more money off of Kobe than Kobe's made off of the Lakers. He totally earned that contract extension, and they've still got enough cap space for 2015.

I'm pretty sure that the Lakers have made much more money off of Kobe than Kobe's made off of the Lakers. He totally earned that contract extension, and they've still got enough cap space for 2015.

The less Kobe makes, the more the Lakers can sign.  Whether he earned it is irrelevant.  Duncan earned the right to make more $ than he signed for too.

I thought of Hollins but he doesn't seem like the kind of caliber "name" coach LA seems to always go for.  Karl is an interesting possibility though.  Maybe JVG too; but I doubt anyone's in a hurry to put Stan and Kobe on the same team.

As a player, Hollins was an All-Star and a starter on a NBA championship team.  That stuff means something to some people.  He's also a defense-oriented coach, which some people might want as a chance from D'Antoni-ball.

Seriously.  He's like a drug that those fans just can't get enough of.  I hope they keep chanting "we want phil" at the end of games.

If the Lakers land a top pick (which is likely), I get the feeling that they'll trade it away for a shot at one last run before Kobe is done. I wouldn't be surprised if Rondo is a top target either.
