The playoffs still a possibility

If KO even gets ONE #1 ROY vote, I'll give you $1000. ROY awards are given to players for consistent in-season performance, not to players who started to play well after the All-Star break.

The award is usually give to players who have the highest PPG.  Olynyk has less than half the ppg of the highest-scoring rookie, so he has no chance unless he starts a streak of a dozen 30-point games in a row.

I honestly cant believe some of you would actually be excited with seeing us make the playoffs rather than getting a top pick in the draft. These last 2 months are HUGE in terms of what direction this team takes over the next couple years. Making the playoffs and being a first round exit is the WORST possible scenario. It stunts our growth, makes us look like were something we aren't. This is not some young, up and coming team like the Indiana Pacers that just needs a veteran presence like David West to finally break through.

If you are happy to see this team make the playoffs this year then I hope you are happy with years of being below mediocrity. Even if Ainge doesnt  see a standout player in this draft, other teams do and that early pick could still be a fine tradeable asset.

It sucks that the NBA is the way it is, but unfortunately it is what it is and I care to much about Celtics basketball to watch first round exits year after year. I want to watch us compete for titles. Sorry to break it to you but Kelly Olynyk and Jared Sullinger are not bringing us titles.

If we make the playoffs it will be a nightware situation for many "tank" fans. But i think won't be too upset as the team is moving fwd in the right direction.

KO is on fire and yes at this rate will win the ROY. He is avg what, 17 points per game, 6-7 rebounds. That is not just a good stat for a rookie, that is a pretty good player in this league

And which rookies have been really consistent this season?
Mcw - 16pts , 6assists avg a game. Playing 34 min and shooting 39 fg per (horrible)

Oliadipo-13pts avg a game. Playing 32 min, Shooting 41 fg per

I mean these are not great stats. If KO can do 14-15 pts a game the rest of the way shooting at a better rate and in less min avg, he will get considerations

You do realise that our last championship was built from high draft picks. Sure we didn't use those picks to "draft" our superstar but they were traded to acquire our stars.

no #5 pick in 2007 means no Ray allen...and no Ray allen means No KG and no championship. so, clearly high draft picks are important in a rebuild.

we've got a tough schedule coming up, So I expect us to slide back to the 4th worst record.

I don't see it happening.

The Celts are currently 5 games behind Atlanta for the 8th seed.

Besides, at this point, I think that ship has sailed.

Back at the beginning of the season, I wanted to see us prove all the doubters and tankers wrong and be a playoff contending team.

Now at this juncture, better off just trying to land a top 5 pick and use it as trade bait this summer to acquire a big name player and come back strong for next season.

I'd be happy if the C's made the playoffs, but it isn't happening.

To make the playoffs we'd have to win probably 35 games, which would mean for the rest of the season we'd have to go 13-6. Combined with the last two games, that's 15-6 of a 21 game stretch, or better than a .700 clip for the final quarter of the season.  If we could pull that off, especially with some very difficult games left on the schedule, while I would be sad at the loss of a high draft pick, I'd feel much better about our team heading into next season.  That would indicate our team with a fully healthy Rondo is pretty strong.

I don't expect this to happen.  But I'd be okay with it.

Guys, come back from the ledge - occasionally, we may beat other crappy teams. As bad as we are, we weren't gonna lose out. Of it he remaining schedule,  the only teams I can see us beating are the Nets, Knicks, and Pistons. Anything else is an upset.
