It's interesting to see how quickly this board has soured on Parker. A month or 2 ago, he was THE pick. Now people have him going 4th or 6th?? And now Wiggins is the safer pick??

In any case, I still hope we are able to draft Wiggins somehow.

I won't lie, Parker has been my goal for over a year, but the game today, it was baaaad.

But Id still be beyond ecstatic if he joins the Celtics.

it will be a nightmare for me. Parker and Smart are the two players i least want from the top 6

If Parker is drafted, and if he doesn't improve his body/defense by the start of next season, Stevens is going to yank him not too long after he puts him in the game. He won't get much time on the floor

Parker, by the most conservative scout estimates, has a ceiling of a multiple all-star forward. Think Jamal Mashburn. He'd be a franchise cornerstone, even if he's not a superstar. Nightmare for me is taking Exum or Randle or Gordon, and they end up being 'just okay'.

Nightmare for me is Marcus Smart. That guy is a headcase. Did anyone see him in today's game? He was complaining after nearly every call, looked like he was going to explode.

I like the Jamal Mashburn comparison.  Similar height, length, build, handle and all-court scoring ability.  If he turns out closer to Mashburn than Carmelo or Pierce, I wouldn't say he's a franchise cornerstone.  Mashburn had a career PER of 15.7 and a career high of 18, not franchise cornerstone numbers.  His biggest weakness was that he was such an inefficient scorer, which Parker could well end up being.  Parker ending up as Mashburn would be him being 'just okay.'

Yeah, comparing him to Mashburn doesn't get me excited—good scorer but not exactly a legendary player (made only 1 All-Star team). Maybe the hype about Parker is too much, but based on the hype, he's supposed to be a lifetime All-Star/possible HOFer.

Jabari Parker will be Kevin Love at the 3, in that he will probably score a lot but will be one of the worst defenders in the league, get overpaid due to scoring and never lead a team to the playoffs single handedly. I'd be happy if we got him, but I've liked Wiggins better than him all season

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
He's still the most complete offensive player in the draft by FAR.
He turned 19 one week ago.
His Duke team is terrible. He had a bad game. Simple as that. That terrible team wasn't going anywhere.
Just swarm Parker and run a zone and presto.

He'll be a multiple All Star at the very least. He'll drop a few pounds and get faster, stronger and play his natural guard/point forward in the NBA.
Kids size, shooting stroke and footwork are epic.
Write him off if you want but you'll be eating your words.
He shouldn't be playing college, he should be starting for an NBA team as we speak and getting quality basketball exposure with other professionals.
Duke team is just vomit and he's carried them all year.

"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

  • We may as well put Tyrion in at center.

Kevin Love is being grossly underrated here. Worst defender in the leauge? Wow. He gets criticism for being an average defender. His work ethic and toughness + girth make him more of an asset than a hindrance to the Wolves. Seriously, have you seen Bargnani? Rebounding is part of defense too, and you're simply not giving credit where it's due. Love puts up insane numbers day in and out. He's only 25 too.

Lots of posters believe that Rondo + Love can be the core to a contender. I'd be very much happy with Parker developing into Love's level.
I like Marcus Smart

Never lead a team to the playoffs singlehandedly?  Haha.  What players can do that?  He will probably never average 25 rebounds or 12 assists per game either.  He sucks.
