Celtics announce that Vitor Faverani had surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee. He is out for the season.

That sucks...for both Wallace and Faverani. Hoping for their best recoveries.

But really, this is the Celtics season where injuries are acceptable now. I hate injuries.

Does this help or hurt our tanking efforts?

Little bit of both.

Disappointing that he wasn't able to live up to his nickname.  Get well soon Fav.

I hope he gets healthy and comeback strong next season. I like his upside.

This is so, so disappointing.

I'm really disappointed with how Fav was used—or should I say, not used—this season. I agree with the "earn your minutes" argument, but only to a point: How is a guy going to earn minutes if the only action he's seeing is in practice? At some point—particularly in a rebuilding year—you've gotta just put these guys in and let them learn in the fire. Fav actually had a couple double-doubles early in the season—how is that not good enough to earn continued playing time?

He never should've been sent down to Maine. On a young team with ZERO rim protectors, Fav should've been a regular and significant member of the rotation. Very disappointed, even a bit upset, with Danny and/or Brad (whoever made the decision).

Can you tell that I'm disappointed?  :(

I am really unhappy with how little Faverani was used this season too. A guy with size and heft would have been useful on this undersized Celtics team on many more occasions than Brad Stevens used him for. Wasted.

No idea how you replace a talent like that. Title hopes may be gone...

There goes that winning streak that was getting us into the last playoff slot too.

per hoopshype he is not signed next season. His performance in general this year was a disappointment.  Imo he won't be back and Iverson will get the chance to backup for next season
