not blaming him but if we had gotten the player i'd seen over the yrs. we'd be a helluva lot better than we've been.

I'm going to assume that over the years did not include last year.  Dude is cashed out.  Father time waits for no man, not even dudes named Gerald.

honest to goodness, i think he gets so much hate because of his huge contract, but let's say we're somehow able to rebuild quickly by 2015. Would you guys offer Wallace the MLE?

I'm not sure I'd offer him the vet min. Definitely not the MLE.

yeah, for the type of player he is at this point...I'd probably give him the vet min. he hustles thats about it. guy is cooked talent wise.

and to think the Nets gave up a top pick(which ended up being damian Lillard) to get him and paid him 10million$

but now we are stuck with him for the duration of that deal. but its the price Ainge had to pay to get all those first rounders.

Even last year the Nets were better with him on the floor than off.  And while +/- can hide bad players handcuffed to good ones, only one of the 10 Nets he played the most minutes with had a worse +/- with Wallace on the floor than off.  Couldn't shoot a lick, but was still worth having (although not for $10 million).

He's an above average backup 3/4 as long as you keep in mind he can't shoot. He's worth more than the veteran's min but not a lot more. Ideally you'd play him mostly at the PF position as matchups allow.

Sure. Other than the fact that we can't shoot, pass, defend, block, rebound and are simply playing for a draft pick, it's been great! - Gerald Wallace ;D

I'm relieved that Wallace is done for the year.

Hopefully next year we'll have enough young depth on the wing that he barely plays.

it's not him playing, it's his contract eating up our space. If he barely plays next year, it's even worst because we're paying a guy 10 mil just to be a cheerleader

Can't argue that logic.

Also, congrats on your 8,000th post.

if it wasnt for the stupid contract wallace is actually a decent player that can help teams win, coming off the bench. i think he is slowly accepting the fact he is not a top any type player in the league anymore and is starting to accept his role... slowly. every time wallace is mentioned though, i think of his weird voice. turner and wallace have got to have the oddest voices in the NBA.

My vote for oddest voice is probably Brandon Roy or Reggie Evans.

Not that there's anything wrong with their voices, just that (especially in Evans' case) it doesn't seem to match the body at all.
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.
