If nobody on contract is traded, young players like Sully and Olynyk progress in their development and the main source of talent addition is through the draft?  (example 3rd and 17th pick)

yes or no?

it's kind of hard to answer this question.  Theres a playoff team, then theres a playoff team in the eastern conference.

i dont expect us to be competitive next season, not to say we'll be tanking again, but I think it'll take at least a  year for everyone to find their place, once we have our supposed franchise player (if the player picked with the top 3 pick stats living up to the hype).

As far as the playoffs go, well, I think we should be an improved team next year, not a playoff team by any standard, but who knows, the east is so bad.  But maybe it'll be different next year once some teams get healthy and the overrated draft is over and teams stop tanking.

The big thing over the next two years is two find our core, and then use the money we have once wallace and other expirings come off the books to surround them with the right people

Yup.

I don't think the Celtics will have one of the sixteen best records in the league. They could still make the playoffs.

No. A lot of the injured players (Rose, Horford, Lopez, etc.) will be back. We will not be players this summer (next summer we will). We will have a younger roster and it'll take time. Plus, I wouldn't rule out the possibility of a Rondo, Bass, and/or Green trade.

Surely the east will be better next year. ......

Depends on Rondo an draft

So much is changing , will Wallace situation, Colton ....too many variables

KO may be better, Sully too and maybe El hombre returns healthy

Too many what ifs :).    To make even a guess

Hmm... I think I've always just assumed that they would.

But now that you ask this question, I'm just confused.. and a little sad.

I think so . Rondo should be 100%, Sully should take another step forward, KO as well, and maybe we luck out and get  Embiid . I think if we get someone  like him that is raw offensive, but should be able to protect the rim and rebounds right away it will go a long way. And Danny usually makes good picks later in the first round as well. Also, depends on what we get if we move Green and/or Bass. I almost forgot, Chris Johnson should improve too. Answer is yes.

No roster moves but we add a couple of players through the draft? No, we don't make the playoffs next year.

This roster is more than one move away from being good and no matter the rookie (even if he wins ROY), there will still be sizable holes in the roster. I do expect us to finish 10th or 9th in the east though :)

So another 27 win season, huh?

Hah.  I think we'll probably be a playoff team next year unless we go all-in on building around youth.  Can't really afford not to be a playoff team if we plan on keeping Rondo.

I don't expect the C's lottery pick to make much of an immediate impact. Most of those lottery picks don't look ready to help a team immediately to me. So not expecting much there.

So most of their growth is going to come from better health (hopefully) + development from guys already here. That will give them a shot in a weak East but I don't think it'll be quite enough without a couple of changes.

Not necessarily huge changes (star talent) but need a starter (center) and add a couple of guards to come off the bench (backup PG, backup SG to replace C-Lee).

I expect the team to make the playoffs next season if they somehow acquire a legitimate starting center who is a capable defender.  That could be through the draft, but it might not be.

There's a SMALL chance. If we, somehow, manage to get another star player, then yes.
