Any Truth to Scout's Rondo Comments?

Hed rather have jeremy lin and whoever the knicks trot out there then rondo? Its an extreme exaggeration but id say rondo is more back of the top 10 than top 5 at this point. Irving, westbrook, lillard, paul, curry, parker, are all better than him off the top of my head...at least i think they are. Then you have lawson, wall, rose who you could make a case for.

I see more evidence that Bigfoot, or even that the Loch Ness Monster exists, than an NBA scout that believes there are 40 pgs better than Rondo. Even 40 players.

Outside of the obvious hyperbole with the 40 PGs, I agree that Rondo is not one of the first players or even first PGs I'd choose if trying to build a franchise from the ground up.

Still waiting for Chris Paul, Kyrie, John Wall, or Russell Westbrook to actually accomplish something in the post season.  Not like CP3 or Russell don't have great teammates around them.

The "pounding the ball" comments seem really out of whack with reality.  From what I've seen lately, Rondo's been really good at making good, purposeful moves with the dribble early in the shot clock.

The accusations have always been over-exagerrated, but this year he actually seems to be making more of a conscious effort to get plays started earlier in the half court.  Yet, he's still being accused of pounding the ball at the top of the key.

yeah but their team is not only about Parker. Look at the team now without parker, they hardly miss him and haven't stop winning. Pops has a system in place and will can ordinary players into super ones

If you're trying to say there are other players on the team besides Paul, I agree with you.

Tony Parker has had the most FGA's and assists per game for the Spurs for the last 4 seasons, and was within an eyelash from being a Finals MVP last year. He's what makes that team go, and without him the Spurs have no shot at all in the playoffs. Same goes for Paul and the Clipps.

But if the Spurs don't have Parker they still win, the proof is what is going on today.  If Paul was gone for a bit, the clippers would still make the playoffs.

However if you lose Kobe Bryant and your the lakers you are toast. Without KG the celtics are toast.  Not one pg i can say the same about today. Last ones are probably Isiah Thomas and Magic Johnson

well I agree with both of you. There are players like KG/Lebron/Kobe/Isiah Thomas and Magic Johnson, who if you lose them, you title hopes are gone. However, these guys also needs help. Yes, the Clips, without CP3, could probably still make playoffs, Spurs without Parker could probably still make playoffs, but they're probably not going to win a title.

You're gonna need a go-to-guy/super-star for you to win a title, but you also surround him with talent and probably another all-star. Playoff Rondo wins us games, but will he win us another title? No one knows, but I think trading him for the excuse to "completely rebuild" is beyond retarded. Trading Rondo will prolong our rebuild process. You already got yourself an all-star, now pair him with another one or two. You got 10 picks, and lots of young assets to trade. Get it done. And I don't like the idea of building around a position. I view every one of them as building blocks with specific roles. Right now, Rondo is our best player, so you build around him. If we can pair him with an all-star or our draft pick becomes a superstar, there is your pair to build around with.

  These things are relative. Without KG in 2009 the Celts won almost 70% of their games and came close to getting to the conference finals.

On one of many Rondo threads, I ranked him as the 21st best PG.

Even though the Celtics couldn't trade him and Birthdaygate happened, my opinion hasn't changed - still #21.
