33.1 minutes (8 of 11 games) | 15.3 points | 9.9 assists (2.6 turnovers) | 5.1 rebounds | 1.6 steals | 1.3 three's | .485/.400/.842

He still looks rusty, and sometimes I feel like he's coasting, but he's still had a fair share of hustle plays already, his shooting looks much improved, and his playmaking and court vision haven't skipped a beat.

What did y'all think about his February?

Judging from posts in the various Rondo threads, I would never have guessed his numbers would have looked that good for the month of February, to be honest.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
If we could get him one more decent player to pass to, we could be looking at a 20 point, 10 assist point guard which would be unreal.

Just needs to finish better around the basket. But that should come with time and better shooters to alleviate pressure.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

I am definitely a big Rondo fan, and disagree with people saying Rondo cannot help this team or lead this team. Him playing consistent minutes puts us in the best position to win, and this is only 80-90% Rondo

If you can pair Rondo with another All-Star, this team is easily a playoff team, probably 4-6th in the East

I'm glad he's finally getting to the line some the last four games, and knocking them down so far.

I was thinking something similar. It's amazing that a less-than-100% Rondo playing on a lowly team can still put up an efficient 15/10/5.

The FT% is very encouraging. That's always been his biggest weakness, and if he's a 70%+ FT shooter now, and gets his speed back... yikes. He's going to score a whole lot if that's the case.

Also, is he a three-point shooter now? He's league-average percentage-wise at the moment, and only five makes from setting a per-season high for himself. Hitting them from everywhere 'cept the left corner, too. I guess maybe Tommy wasn't exaggerating about him working hard on his shot.

At this early stage the absence of any clear red flags is good news in itself.

I remember when CWebb came back from his microfracture surgery and Charles Barkley said something like "it looks like he's dragging a tractor around with his leg." It seemed obvious pretty early on that Webb was never going to be the same, and I don't have that sense with Rondo.

Anything else, like his small-sample good numbers from 3pt, is gravy IMO.

It's seeming like his defense might be the last thing to come back. Doesn't seem like he's close to his former level there - would others agree?

His lateral quickness isn't there and he's less aggressive on the offensive glass as well as defense.

He's still playing passing lines and stealing the ball though, it'll come back.

Pulled this from ESPN insider - overrated / underrated article, I would say it's a little harsh....

Rajon Rondo, PG, Boston Celtics

Eastern conference scout: "Three years ago, I was the only scout saying Rondo is overrated, and I was crucified for it. I was saying he was awful. I think he's a selfish player. He's only going to pass it to you if he thinks he can get an assist. I've seen him come out for pregame warm-ups with his shoes untied, shooting lefty foul shots. For him to come out for a game with that attitude makes me question his work ethic. I've never liked his game.

"If you play with Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen at close to their peak, they're going to raise everyone's game. Defensively, Rondo's a bit of a gambler, and I don't think his defense is all that. If I was starting a team and had my choice of any point guard, he would be 40th. I mean it. I'd take some backups before him."

That is amazing that he can still get his numbers, despite not playing that well. At this speed rondo looks kind of like a good numbers on a bad team player. When he gets his speed back on both ends, i cant wait to see what he does!

He is at his best when he uses his speed and smarts to wreak havoc on both ends. That's when he becomes the dominator, and can outplay the elite of the league. When he has that speed, that is when he is an allstar, and a top 5 point guard.

Yeah deadspin and twitter are laughing at that scout. Troll so hard....

40th PG? If that's what you think you should be fired, or promoted if you work for the Knicks.

Very promising ~~ nice to see Rajon's production ramping up, considering he really won't be 100% until next season.

Now we need to find a franchise player. Hope Bill Simmons is onto something...
