Well that is, according to Kyle Draper who just interviewed Danny Ainge a few days ago.  He said on Celtics Beat podcast that Kris Humphries will not be bought out:

I don't think anyone really expected him to be bought out. The celtics have nothing to gain from it.

I'd be for that.  That's Bass money and he's a better player than Bass.  Would be nice to try and move Bass so they can re-sign Humphries as a backup to...Kevin Love ;)

Hump has made it very clear that he wants to stay here.

http://www.masslive.com/celtics/index.ssf/2014/01/kris_humphries_says_he_wants_t.html

Quote
As he told the Boston Globe on Monday, “I want to be a part of this whole, building this team and doing all that stuff with the new coach and all that, I want to be here.”

“I like the teammates, coaches, organization,” he added before Tuesday’s shootaround at AmericanAirlines Arena. “It’s something nice to be a part of.”

Must be a nice change for him with a new start with a class organization and fanbase that appreciates him , no Kardashian BS spotlight and feeling that you're a veteran presence (even though he's only 29) who can be a positive influence with his hustle and his work ethic.

That's obviously how Danny and BS feel about him too.

Might have to pay 7-8mil to get him though. Young for a big, double-double history. Hopefully he stays.

Glad they're not buying him out. Could you imagine if we bought him out and the cHeat grabbed him, basically with us paying for him playing for them!!

Yeah I'm afraid Hump won't come cheap.  Not sure I'd do 7-8.  Maybe another short contract like he got with the Nets.  2 years/16M I'd consider.  Depends what options there are out there.

Hump is likable dude.

Has good work ethic. Good vet. To have on the team.

Glen Davis is the type of person you buy out.   ,  one that fans loathe,   Poor habits , big mouth , and cry baby , trouble maker .....

I used to hate Hump, especially after what happened last year.

Then he became a Celtic, and slowly became likable for me. But I agree, Big Baby is wahhh wahh.

Well, the point is they would save money.  But probably not enough.

The first GM to pay Kris Humphries $8mill this summer will be the first GM fired during the 2014-15 season.

I will preface my comments with noting that players always seem to get more money than I think they are worth but I don't think Hump is that good and is only worth maybe $4M to the Celtics for the next couple of years.

Maybe he is worth more to another team but I don't see the strategic value of a rebuilding team paying a decent, hardworking, likable but mediocre back up PF up to $8M per year.

I thought it was awesome last night how Cousins was having a meltdown and was throwing cheap shots, and Humphries didn't back down and didn't even change his style of play.  He just kept total composure and kept hustling and making the right play.  He's a tough guy to rattle.

Hump is a good solid player.  I would welcome him back but only on the cheap.  If we spend big in free agency I want a legit starter.  I have my eye on lance Stephenson.  Now that Indiana grabbed Evan Turner, which SG will they pay to keep in the offseason?

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
Why would we?

He is indeed making a lot of money for what he's giving but that's not the Celtic's fault.

He's a very good forward, a veteran presence and would be good playing 35 minutes or none at all. He want's to be here as well. Let's just let his big contract expire, resign him for a reasonable (say $5 million per year) contract and be the third big man off the bench.
2019 CStrong Historical Draft 2000s OKC Thunder.
PG: Jrue Holiday / Isaiah Thomas / Larry Hughes
SG: Paul George / Aaron McKie / Bradley Beal
SF: Paul Pierce / Tayshaun Prince / Brian Scalabrine
PF: LaMarcus Aldridge / Shareef Abdur-Raheem / Ben Simmons
C: Jermaine O'neal / Ben Wallace

If we can deal Bass and Green to other teams this offseason.  I think we should definitely try to sign him to a SUB 7 mil/yr contract.  I'd like 6 mil/3 years
