Knicks Thought Shumpert For Collison Trade Was Done
Feb 21, 2014 1:47 PM EST

The New York Knicks thought they had a deal done at the deadline with the Los Angeles Clippers centered upon Iman Shumpert for Darren Collison.

The Clippers decided against making the trade at the last minute.

Sources believe the Clippers may have been posturing to keep Shumpert from being traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

that won't look good to other gm's if true, who would want to deal with them now  if they are going to pull crap like this ?

That's kind of messed up. Bet Doc was behind it.

Hey, isn't Doc Rivers the de facto GM for the Clips?

That would have been a great trade for LAC.

Shumpert + CP3 in the same backcourt defensively. Terrific tandem.

Shumpert was exactly the type of highly athletic and tough defender on the wing that LAC sorely needed to amp up their perimeter defense. Perfect for them.

Disappointed that OKC didn't get Shumpert either. Shump would have been excellent in between Russell Wesetbrook and Kevin Durant for the next 7-10 years. Shumpert is just an excellent role player. He'd be good for anyone.

It would have been a good investment for OKC since Thabo has been slowing down a bit. Bring in fresh legs. Added quickness. Let Thabo move into a bench role where he would be Posey-esque. Give OKC one of the meanest perimeter defenses in the league (Westbrook, R.Jackson, Shumpert, Durant, Thabo).

Sleazy.
Yeah its one thing to try and bid up a team, its another to pull out last minute to leave them hanging there. Assuming its true.

I've seen this on a few ESPN blogs from different writers that I've never heard of, but they weren't reputable enough for me to want to post it.

I wouldn't be surprised though. LAC has tried this with us remember?

Didnt Shumpert get injured pretty close to deadline? Could have been a factor.

Im guessing this is mord aboht the Knicks just complaing to complain. They think their ish doesnt stink

I dont know seems more likely than the Clippers trying to block an Iman Shumpert deal to OKC. Sounds like a reach

Has everybody forgotten the Clippers side of the Doc/K.G/Pierce+____ for Blake,D Jordan, Bledsoe turn Doc/K.G (Paul coming in later) turn Doc and KG turn Doc for 2 first, turn one first turn 'nobody has been authorized by management to do ANY deal' to Docs first sceduled presser (canceled) turned 2year old Rondo story leaked as new) turned 2nd rounder, turned 2nd scheduled presser..I'm sorry Rondo friction goes here (2nd presser canceled)

If you were watching closely it was one of the more bizzare, embarrassing  things I have ever seen. For the leak that Doc was the one advised to not include Bledsoe in any trade (save him for a future one ...which they did) Doc was advising his future employer against his current employer......thus the footer in the sig.

Anybody surprised the Clips do this? Where were you last Summer ???
