CLIFFS

- Not disappointed by nothing being done at deadline.

- Didn't like the cost out there to do things.

- Agrees the league's cap situation is a little too complicated for fans and people who don't work with it everyday.

- Thinks the NBA is unique because the majority of trades are made for financial reasons now.

- No bargains out there right now.

- There is a major emphasis on future cap flexibility for all NBA teams.

- Were not really close to any major deals.

- Minor deals were close but ultimately cost too much.

- Cites Indiana as a team that was able to build their squad without a top pick.

- You have to operate from building your team like the Pistons in 2004 because the Durants and James of the world are few and far between.

- Does not believe any transcendent players like a Durant or James in this draft.

- Believes this draft is highly overrated.

- Thinks there are good but not great players in this draft.

- Thinks the Celtics might have trouble bringing in Free Agents but still views cap space as another chip for asborbing ect.

- Doesn’t rule out the possibility of bringing in elite free agents

- Believes good players are the best tool to bringing in Free agents and then references how KG was reluctant until Pierce and Allen were on the team. Wants to create an advantage this way to bring in free agents.

- Never discussed trades with Houston... At all. Rumors made up out of nowhere.

- Ainge says it’s possible hes overrating Rondo but doesn’t believe he is. States, “We love Rajon Rondo”.

- Only time he was close to trading Rondo was for Chris Paul.

- Ownership has never said anything about trading Rondo or naming a high price.

- Believes culture is very important and having good men (Veterans) around is good for the culture.

- States, “We have a direction and we do have a plan” before signing off.

Just turned it on. Felger, while talking to Ainge, questioned whether Indiana can really be considered a success building from the middle because they haven't gotten past Miami.

Why do I torture myself?

The better question is why does Ainge torture himself talking to this buffoon.
"I don't know half of you half as well as I should like; and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve."

- Things there are good not great players in this draft.
That settles it. Ainge is certainly looking to to trade up for the first overall pick.

Maybe a contractual obligation? Also, possibly because he realizes Felger and Mazz are for whatever reason, impressionable to their listeners. If he can squash out some of F&M's erroneous talking points, maybe it could be of some benefit image wise. I guess ultimately it matters how Wyc & co. feel, but setting the record straight can't hurt.

I really don't know. I wouldn't talk to these guys.

98.5 is the flagship station of the Celtics.  It's mutually beneficial to both parties involved.

It sounds like even minor type stuff like moving Bass would have actually ended up costing us. At this moment, mid-level veterans who are signed more than one year are a liability in this league to teams who are not contending or trying to lose.

- You have to operate from building your team like the Pistons in 2004 because the Durants and James of the world are few and far between.

I'm tempted to start a thread highlighting this because I think there are some posters who might bash their heads against a wall if this is Plan A.
"The worst thing that ever happened in sports was sports radio, and the internet is sports radio on steroids with lower IQs.” -- Brian Burke, former Toronto Maple Leafs senior adviser, at the 2013 MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference

I always thought this was Danny's plan if he couldn't get a first tier star and I totally agree.
