This. Its amazing how many sports announcers get jobs and keep them. Especially in the Boston area. I mean how many aspiring communications personas must there be in the Boston area? And thiiiiiis is who they pay? Its never made any sense to me.

It is as simple as ratings. If they make the marked ratings goal, they stick around. If not, they likely lose their job. Remember how much of a mainstay the Big O was? Once his ratings suffered he was gone.

I can't stand Felger and Mazz especially when it comes to basketball talk. but as long as their ratings are high, they will be here to stay.

It would be nice if the Celtics network had someone who could talk about basketball intelligently once in a while. Felger's good for hockey, ok for baseball, below average for football, and an idot when it comes to basketball. Should be on NESN, where I could ignore him until hockey playoffs.

I don't believe there is any host on any TV or radio network around here that has anything intelligent to say about NBA basketball (perhaps excluding Celtics game coverage). They don't understand the CBA, don't know the players, and generally have little sense about how the NBA does business.

Felger doesn't claim credibility when it comes to basketball.  You need to understand he's a troll when it comes to the NBA.  He does it on purpose.  Because it riles you guys up.  He doesn't care for the NBA and isn't shy about it.  If you're looking for legitimate basketball coverage you aren't going to find it on sports radio in New England.  It sucks, but it's the truth.

On the other hand, I'm a BIG fan of Felger and think his opinions are generally very good when it comes to football/baseball/hockey.  If anything I don't care for Mazz...otherwise known as Felger's yes-man.
