  • A true Celtic plays with heart.
So with Rockets/Kings offering some decent prospects, would you like to see Rondo get traded?

Me? Personally Rondo became cemented as a Celtic in my heart, the moment he stole the ball from White Chocolate in the Magic vs Celtic series, and crossed him over for the easy lay in.

After the dislocated elbow, and the fire to prevail in the series. I became a huge fan of Rondo, and have to this day. I would not like to trade Rondo, as I don't consider Parsons/McLemore or any offers we've gotten so far superstars.

I would like to keep Rondo till he's healthy, and see what great offer we'll get. Until then let him fully recover.

I'd like to see him traded. Problem is, I don't see anything more than fifty cents on the dollar being offered.

From what I'm reading out there currently for rumors?  No.

He's a core guy that you can build with.  There's plenty debate whether he's a #1 guy, a #2 guy or worse (personally, I think a #2 guy).  His skill set is fairly unique and I think you work to find complementary pieces to mesh with him.  Build a strong core.

He's not off limits to me but I'm not moving him unless a very stong building building block is coming back.  None of these proposed trades do it for me.

Keeping Rondo, if the C's can somehow finagle a top 3 guy in this draft while keeping this asset bundle they've acquired in place, then I think they'll be well on their way back.

You sure as heck don't move him for the sake of just moving him.

This. Add onto that - bring in a FA in 2015 (Marc Gasol, please and thank you).

There's definitely a scenario where trading Rondo makes a lot of sense.

There's a less likely scenario where keeping him makes a lot of sense.

I'm sure Ainge would prefer scenario 2, but since it's less likely, I'm betting on scenario 1.

  • Be the posts you wish to see in the world.
All else being equal, no I don't.  For a really strong package in return I wouldn't be thrilled to see him go, but would be happy with the return.  Kinda like the PP/KG deal.

Most importantly, though, what I think doesn't matter.  It'll happen or it won't, so might as well sit back and see.

For the right pieces, certainly.

Completely disagree that Rondo is a core player who can be built around. He is not a transcendent scorer; rather he is one who must be surrounded by those scorers to be effective.

He is overrated defensively - largely due to questionable effort - and is now damaged goods with the knee injury.

To borrow some wisdom from another blog poster, he is not the #1 on anyone's team. If he's your #2, you can contend. If he's your #3 you've got a shot at a title - as we saw with Pierce and Garnett.

If Ainge and Wyc sincerely believe that Rondo is a foundational player for a title rebuild, then this deal is going to take a decade, at least.

Agreed all but .......if Rondo stay s for now ......I think he is history come draft night .....the chance to do more stuff ......maybe elite talent ......any number of options may develope by then.......I hold my cards if I'm DA

I vote NO,  because I think Rondos value climbs till draft day"..........the return could be better

That's why I don't want Rondo to be traded. Of course I'd like to see him retire in Green after some more titles, but if there was a Godfather type offer I guess Ainge would pull the trigger in 0.5 miliseconds.

No team will offer a Durant or a Chris Paul, so you better keep your iconic player if you want to keep some of the Celtics essence.

We'll be fine with Rondo/Sully and whoever comes in a big trade next season. Be patient.

This. If the deal is rich, and fits a conceived plan from the organization.

I think his value is less on draft day, personally.  If we're going to trade him, we need to trade him in the next 22 hours.

Come draft day, he's a "one year rental" for most teams.  Plenty of others would rather just take Smart, Ennis or Exum.  Plenty of others already have guards or have other serviceable/cheaper options available.

Best offers will happen now.
