Rondo talks about trade rumors

Rajon Rondo has seen this movie. He's starred in it, in fact.

"This is year eight for me, and I think this is year eight for me being in trade rumors, especially around this time," he said before the Celtics practiced today.

"This is pretty much the same thing I go through every year. I think this is the most trade talk maybe, as far as seriousness for me, but, like I said, I still live my life every day and do what I do. Whatever happens, I'll be able to adjust and adapt to it."

As for hearing reports of alleged negotiations, Rondo said, "You guys bring it to my attention every time I see you guys."

Does he follow the talk on his own?

"No, I'm enjoying life," Rondo said. "I have a lot to be thankful for. This is just part of it."

I wonder what he meant (the bolded part).

I'm thinking what he means by that part in bold is that this is probably the most realistic chance in his 8 year career where he could get traded. 

Outside his rookie year to year 2 transition, this is the most the Celtics have gone under a transition.  For the better part of his career, its been trying to find a smaller piece here or there to remain in title contention.  Now, totally blowing it up remains a very viable option when it really didn't between 2007-2012 or so.

Yeah that makes sense.Danny has a lot options right now.

Right. There was never really a serious undercurrent to any of the Rondo trade talks in the past, insofar as the team was expecting to contend for a title, and so the only reason you would move him would be for a player that made the team better, of which there were approximately one or two that we know about.

Now, though, it's much more likely Ainge could trade him for assets than in years past, since winning isn't a priority or an expectation.

Right. Given that he "turned down a re-up with the Kings", that deal had to be presented to him by someone, whether by Ainge or backdoor channels by the Kings.

Either way, that's gotta be enough to make this time more likely (though not a for sure) to happen than past times and hence more real to him.
