http://basketball.realgm.com/tradechecker/saved_trade/6428729Boston in:
Harrison Barnes (GSW)
Bismack Biyambo (CHA)
Portland 1st (CHA)
Charlotte in:
Jeff Green (BOS)
Jermaine O'Neal (GSW)
Kent Bazemore (GSW)
Golden State in:
Brandon Bass (BOS)
MKG (CHA)
Why they do it:
Boston gets a young guy who will develop in Harrison Barnes, plus a 1st, plus sheds the long term salary of Green and Bass for taking on a bad player on a rookie contract (Biyambo).
Golden St upgrades their bench tremendously. They get a lockdown perimeter defender that they lack in MKG, plus an upgrade in their frontcourt off the bench in Bass. Plus, Bass comes off the books right when Klay Thompson comes off his rookie deal.
Charlotte gets a tremendous upgrade at the 3 with Jeff Green. They also get some expirings back in Jermaine O'Neal and Bazemore. They're getting to the point of win now and this deal helps them in that. They also get to unload two that guys that haven't really panned out in MKG and Biyambo, without giving up any of their expirings.
I think this deal fits the mindset for all three teams involved.
GSW: Win now!
Cha: Win now, but don't mortgage future.
Bos: Collect assets in picks and young players.
