If you want a good JOKE, keep up the the Rookie Ladder on nba.com.  What a stinking JOKE!!!!  Olynyk is NOT in the top 10 even though he has a HIGHER Efficiency Rating than 6 of the top 10 players.

I am SICK of this popularity contest.  Oly should be 5th.

Are your really getting upset due to a single metric?

No Guava, I get upset when sportswriters who are usually very shallow and swayed by eye-pleasing dunks rate players based on highlights on ESPN rather than by full games.  I do NOT apologize for that!!!  I also get really disgusted by college basketball polls that are simply popularity polls that do NOT take into consideration strength of schedules, etc.!!!  For instance, Duke is #8 in the AP poll and #9 in the USAToday poll, yet they are #3 on the Sagarin computer model (which removes almost ALL bias!!)!!  Also, Syracuse is the overwhelming #1 in BOTH popularity polls, but is #6 on Sagarin.  Just wait until Syracuse comes to Durham to play Duke.  EVERYONE will see what I am talking about.  And, BTW, I am NOT a Blue Devil fan.

As shocking as it may appear to be, almost all sportswriters are told to write about things they may not follow as fans. Because of that, some things tend to get lost in the shuffle.
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

I hope they get Kelly into a really good diet & strength program this summer. The gotta get him as light on his feet as possible.
Forgive me if I remain skeptical of anyone's ability to make a guy who isn't packing any extra weight "nimbler".
Yeah, Olynyk's problem is that he simply doesn't have great lateral quickness.  He's never going to be able to stay out on the perimeter with athletic 4's.  I think he has the potential to hold some of his own in the paint if he can put on some more muscle.  He has the length and his body frame looks like it has the potential to add some muscle/bulk to it.

Pressey has shown us what he has, and the answer is not much.

He's a good passer and can penetrate. But he can't shoot from anywhere on the court and can't defend or rebound the PG position.
Pressey has improved his shooting if you actually care. He is a pg, how many rebounds is he suppose to get?

Cant defend? You need to rewatch some games
I do watch games, not all of them but quite a lot. More of them now that Rondo has returned.

Pressey has active hands and tries hard (so he gets nice steals). But he's too small and not strong enough to effectively defend NBA players. Even small guards shoot right over him and he gets bodied very easily on drives and cuts.

Rebounds matter no matter what the position, you just have different expectations. Even for a PG a TRB of 4.3 doesn't cut it.

He's shot under 30% every month but February. In February he's shot 40%, barely adequate. Even that is propped up by a single game of adequate shooting (50% against Milwaukee)

Overall he's at 43% at the rim (awful) and 26% on jump shots (awful)

Have people been watching Pressey play and actually think he has a future in the NBA?  He's downright terrible.  I'm surprised he is still getting playing time and there are no d-league prospects that the celtics want to give a try.  I've honestly seen barely anything I like from him on either side of the floor aside from effort.  I thought Orien Greene had a better chance at an NBA career than I think Phil Pressey does.

Id probably prefer him to work on his strengths mainly. There are tons of guys imcluding many all stars even hall of famers who are terrible defenders.

Kelly just needs to get by. if he improves in several other phases of the game ill be just as pleased

Of course Pressey has done *some things* right.  Even I could do *something* right if I was on the court (eh, maybe).  I SURE hope the celtics wouldn't waste money on a player who's presence was constantly hurting the team.

How we won the last 4-5 games???  .... OK.  The 4 games we've won with Pressey starting were all against absolute crap teams.  I mean, somebody has to win these games.  2 of those wins (Washington and Milwaukee) were all on the shoulders of Jeff Green.  1 of them (Sacramento) was because of Sullinger.  The Toronto game I didn't see.

Again, these are all bad teams and somebody has to win.  Lots of bad NBA players have started games for teams that have won occasional NBA games and then never played another NBA game after that season.  Pressey probably should be one of those guys.
