Not. Lets trade are best young player for a shot at the seventh seed this year. Great trade Wallace. Still can't believe he did that. He was one out of three in the draft that year, then he dumps the only good pick for a shot at mediocrity.

On a side note anyone think Sully will be as good or better than Joe Johnson.

That trade sucked on many levels. We traded away JJ, we got rid of Rogers at the end of the year and we had to get rid of a better guard than Delk because we were stuck with Delk's contract. Whoever did all that should have been arrested.

Could have had a core of

Pg:billups
Sg: JJ
SF: pp
Pf: walker
 C: ?

If you add a defensive center that team likely wins 50+ for about a 5 year period. Still not true contenders though

Short term gratification that I actually enjoyed immensely (2002 playoffs) but we certainly paid the price down the road for some of the decisions made in that time-frame.

Wallace's botching of the '01 draft still irks me.

Ultimately, however, JJ ended up kind of similar to Al Jefferson: a statistically productive player who commanded huge money but never had any real playoff success.

True...the Rodgers at center at experiment Obie did was what killed the Sixers.  Mutombo had to either hang at the 3 point line and free up the middle or he had to live with Rodney Rodgers draining threes all day.

As for the trade, the real killer is that allegedly the Suns first asked for Kedrick Brown and the Celtics negotiated them down to JJ.  Wouldn't have been a bad trade had it been Kedrick and we kept JJ.

Quite honestly, to this day, I've never really had an issue with that trade.  I think hindsight has skewed things for some people on it.

My expectation is that Sullinger will be closer to the Jefferson/Johnson career path than to Billups' -- therefore I will have zero remorse trading him if the right deal comes around. But not for a Tony Delk...
