I think Kevin Love or Carmelo Anthony would be awesome. Add a top defensive big man like Tyson Chandler along with Rondo and one of Sully / J.Green.

I think that is a big four that can win a title.

Would you go hard at Melo this year with picks and see if the Knicks budge?

Melo and Chandler with Rondo would be amazing. Tyson Chandler was great in the P&R situation. I can only imagine more improvement with Rondo on

Rondo setting up Melo and not have Melo have the ball all the time might be good as well...

Melo can be a younger version of Pierce

but there's no way NY will give them up, even if we trade everyone (besides Rondo) with the 1st round picks

But if Danny can get it done somehow, I don't mind a lineup of

Rondo/SG/Melo/Sully/Chandler

No mention of Steph Curry. Am I the only one who thinks he's at least close to this level?

If Tyson Chandler came with Melo, I would do a deal now.

If not, then I would wait until the summer and make a hard push for a sign and trade for Melo.

Melo is on a team about as talented as the Celtics are now and yet they have only one more win than us, even though Melo has been healthy all year.

The reason that this is double shocking is that THEY DO NOT HAVE THEIR OWN PICK THIS YEAR.  They are trying to win and they're in the Eastern Conference.  They're not tanking, they're just bad.  Love may have more talented guys around him, but at least you can say he's in the West.

With the new CBA, offensive juggernauts like Melo, Curry, Cousins and Love who don't play any D are almost the worst players to have on your team, since they absolutely kill you half the game and they eat up a gigantic portion of your cap.  Not to mention, they whine to the media every chance they get.  Cousins is getting better in these regards and I would take him over Love or Melo, but he's not completely redeemed yet.  I would love Embiid as my #1 player to build around, although he is now having injury problems.  I think my answer now is Wiggins again.  Let's lose some games, fellas!

Melo is on a team that's as bad as the Celtics because they have 20 million dollars in dead cap weight sitting on the bench named A'mare.

My number one guy would be Anthony Davis. He is young, a beast on D and better than Howard on offense.  He will lead an NBA Championship team someday. Book it!
2025 Fantasy Draft Philadelphia 76ers:
PG: Rajon Rondo '11-'12;  WestBrook; Wall
SG: James Harden '18-'19 Marcus Smart
SF: Andrei Kirilenko '05-'06; Peja Stojakovic
PF: Anthony Davis '17-'18;   Kevin Love, Griffin
C: Amare Stoudemire '04-'05;   Marcus Camby

Since the 70's the #1 way to win championships is to have the transcendent talent in the league at that time on your team or a very deep group of All-Stars.

2010's - Lebron
2000's - Kobe, Shaq, Duncan
1990's - Jordan Olajuwah
1980's - Bird, Magic

Teams like 2011 Dallas, 2008 Celtics, 2004 Pistons, 1989 and 1990 Pistons and 1983 Sixers are more in line with being teams with a large group of All-Stars rather than having the transcendent singular talent of that decade.

So knowing this I would have to say the answer for future title winners that are led by a player will be Lebron, Durant and Davis and I really don't see anyone else for right now.

Pretty much agree with this although I'll say its just Lebron & Durant.

Everyone else requires the right mix & match of parts.

Given the current roster and with no one in this draft jumping out at me as an obvious transcendent talent, I think trying to build an ensemble cast is the Celtics' best hope for another championship.

More and more I am thinking the same thing.

I agree. I only see two real SUPERSTAR players in the NBA right now. I think the only way to go about it is the way Indian did.
