According to the International Business Times, the Heat could trade for Humphries and in the process, send a long-time Miami power forward to Boston in return. Udonis Haslem is a name that has come up in the rumors between the Heat and Celtics, and he may be on his way out if Miami chooses to make a deal for Humphries.

Something that cannot get lost in these talks is the $12 million expiring contract of Humphries, which would make him that much more desirable for the Heat seeing as this summer is an important one for them – that being the biggest understatement of the year.

It can't happen salary-wise and why would the rebuilding Celts want Haslem?

Haslem makes $4.34 million.

Humphries makes $12 million.

This is nonsense.

Something that cannot get lost in these talks is the $12 million expiring contract of Humphries, which requires Miami to give up much, much more than just Udonis Haslem in matching salary.

According to the International Business Times

One of the least expected openings of an nba trade rumor thread.

Hang on...

Even if this WERE possible cap wise (which as far as I can see it is not), why on earth would Boston do this trade?

1. Humphreys is a better player than Haslem is right now - no basketball benefit

2. Humphreys is a $12M expriring contract - no fiancial benefit

3. Boston has too many PF's and may trade Hump to reduce logjam - Haslem is a PF.  No roster benefit.

The only reason that makes any sense is if Boston did this intentionally to make the team worse, and no other reason.  Or if Miami added another asset of some value (Oden, Ray, picks).

The base trade on it's own makes about as much sense as the Knicks trading Carmello for Jeff Green straight up.

I.e. none.

Crown, When I saw the title of this thread, I thought that a cHeat fan was trolling us....because they really could use Hump and his expiring...

Then I saw it was you, a poster whose opinion I  value.

My bad for the bad thoughts.

Yes ... please, please, PLEASE bring Ray back to Boston. That would be delicious.  ;)

But yes, the proposed trade is not only impossible but pointless, for many reasons. Besides, why would we want to do anything to help the Heat—especially if it meant helping them keep LeBron and preserve their little "dynasty."

Isn't this the same paper that "broke" the Rondo to the Kings rumor a while back? The one that had the Kings trading a couple of first round picks that they cannot trade under the CBA.

Edit: Just checked. Not only same paper. Same writer. He must specialize in making up bogus Celtics rumors.

Never he would help the heat.   I don't see DA helping Riles.  It's a media lie.

He already helped them once this year (because it also helped the Celts).
