The Boston Celtics plan to sign swingman Chris Johnson for the rest of the season, league sources tell Yahoo Sports.

John from Red's Army makes a good point:

I wonder what this means for upcoming trades. Danny Ainge is not one to just give up a roster spot he might need

Man, that's so cool. Johnson earned a spot I'm pretty sure the Celtics, at first, didn't really want to give.

Avery Bradley aggravated his ankle last night. We need healthy guard bodies, so I don't see this as being a tea leaf to read about the trade deadline.

Congrats to CJ--well earned!

And good deal for the C's. Good shot, good size, good BBIQ and good attitude. I hope and trust they'll have an option on him for next year too.

I really like his hustle and how he plays off the ball. I hope he continues to be hungry.

Why? Its not like the team would hesitate to waive him if a trade required it. We're no longer right up against the gun on the luxury tax.

Good signing from my eyes. He is playing well enough to earn a spot but isnt a guy that will win us ball games to take us out of draft pick mode. Likeable candidate to have in the rotation.

I say could be, because do we ever know the thinking of the front office....no. Do we know what's going to happen next...no. We just speculate as fans until something actually happens. I personally think they knew they were going to sign him and AB being injured makes sense. I was also stating that John made another good point.

Kid played hard, kudos to him and I hope he continues his inspired play.

Maybe this means Ainge has found a way to get Bogans out the door?
Play to win.  Always.

We definitely need the healthy body, but I'd say this is a sign that Danny expects to open up a roster spot or two via trade in the next two weeks.
