I can't remember a season where it's been more fun watching the Celtics. I was strongly against the original KG/Ray trades and still am to this day. I love athletic home grown teams and losing Big Al, G Money, Gomes and others was terrible. Granted you can't get mad about winning a title but the fact is the Celtics were one young player from becoming contenders without the KG/Ray deals. I sincerely believe the C's would have gotten Derrick Rose the following year. Now here we are again. Not quite the talent level of that potential filled 2006-2007 squad but close. Armed with so many picks how can anyone not be pumped to tank? Look at OKC? With a guy like Ainge at the helm committed to tanking I feel great about our future. The kids are playing hard every night and keeping it close. They lose a lot but thats okay. The point is to lose for 4-6 years. This is why trading Rondo for anything makes sense. Chain Gerald Wallace's contract to him and another one like Bass. If anyone is stupid enough to pull the trigger then awesome! Even if it's just for expirings.

Watching the big three come together was a thing of beauty, and as a fan from the early 90's, is my fondest Celtics memory.  Watching the likes of Jefferson (who I loved), Tony Allen, Sebastian Telfair and Gerald Green lose night after night was no fun - do you honestly think a team with that core could have had a higher ceiling than our Big 3 era teams?

Wow.

I had fun watching the last game and the one where Sully got 20-20.

I'm glad somebody is enjoying this season.  I hate the losing, and I hate the bad basketball.

I'm surprised by the sentiment that even in hindsight you're against the KG / Ray trades, but hey, if it works for you go with it.

Give Rondo away? KG trade a mistake? Stop it!

I get the need to have homegrown talent, I do. Rondo is homegrown and we hate him!

So you enjoy losing? I'm all for getting a high pick but you're making it sound like you enjoy these tanking seasons more than the seasons we can contend for the championship.
PHX Suns: Russell Westbrook, Chris Bosh, Tristan Thompson, Trevor Ariza, Tony Allen, Trey Lyles, Corey Brewer, Larry Nance Jr., Trey Burke, Troy Daniels, Joffrey Lauvergne, Justin Holiday, Mike Muscala, 14.6

Not at all. But what I love is development. You have a team that you know will improve while the last few years the Celtics have had a rapidly declining team. It would mean a lot to this city to have a true homegrown championship roster. Rondo sadly is getting up there in age and isn't part of the solution except asset accumulation. You're sacrificing 6 years for this goal but to watch this young nucleus take shape from within is amazing. No free agents no trades just get the new big three the old fashion way. Tanking and developing.

When I read the first post I thought it was sarcasm. However I guess it wasn't. I suppose there is a chance the team may have been a winner longer but it's kind of hard to see.

The thing is though I can't remember a player that I enjoyed watching more then KG. I was a huge McHale and Bird fan and I can honestly say I enjoyed watching KG as much. You dont get to see that without that trade though, at least not with him playing for the Celtics.

You also miss out on Pierce outplaying both LeBron and Kobe in the playoffs. If you tell anyone you saw that in 10 years they will say you are crazy but you will know better.

I don't like losing but you have to switch gears a little. Pay a little less attention to the score and a little more to things like how the players develop and who you want on the roster going forward.

Fun is not an exclusive experience. Speaking only for myself... I know that this is a losing and possibly lottery season. I know that we have a rookie coach and only one all-star with a championship ring. I know that we have a young developing team. Etc, etc.

All that does not prevent me from having fun when I watch their games. Win or lose, I'm a fan.

Couldn't agree more with this. What I don't find fun, actually, is when players are "showcased". Yeah, it's important to showcase to get good trade value but I guess on a personal level, I don't really enjoy it.
