It seems that the top three prospects in the draft are Parker, Wiggins, and Embiid.  I suppose if there were a wild card that could jump into this group in the minds of some fans, it would be Exum.

So, what is your order of preference for the top 3?

Here is how I see it:

Parker is the safest choice.  There is a decent chance is ends up in the Pierce-Carmelo continuum, which isn't bad.  Seems like he is DA's choice as well.  As for me, I am not too sure.  I mean, he would be good but I just don't see that transcendent NBA player.  And yes, that player may not be in the draft this year.  So it comes down to whether we want to go for the homerun or not.

Embiid and Wiggins I think possess more long term potential, especially as two-way players (which I think hurt's parker).  So if it were me, I would go:

1.  Embiid
2.  Wiggins
3.  Parker
4.  Exum

I think I'd be equally happy with Parker or Wiggins.  Parker is more of a sure thing, but the upside with Wiggins is just so tantalizing.

I'd be uneasy about Embiid, but it's a smart bet in theory.  You need defensive centers to win in today's NBA unless you  have LeBron or Durant.

Exum, Smart, Randle, Gordon -- if we end up with any of them I'll be excited, but I think I'll view them more as just another asset rather than the likely centerpiece of the next great Celtics team.
You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

1. Parker
2. Embiid
3. Wiggins
4. Smart

I like Randle a lot but I just don't see how he would really fit this team at the moment.

1. Wiggins
2. Embiid
3. Parker
4. Exum
5. Vonleh

Wiggins has been playing really well lately. He has all the tools to be an MVP one day. Elite defense, athleticism, and his jump shot will surely improve. If he learns how to be more aggressive on offense, he will he the best player in this draft class. I like Parker as well but I don't think he will be the all around player that impacts the games in different ways like Wiggins or Embiid. 25 PPG scorer for sure. But I have little confidence he can be a franchise player.

Embiid/Wiggins.  Can't really decide.
Parker
Exum

After that I'd like Smart, but Rondo would have to be gone.  If we keep Rondo Randle is probably the most logical pick, and we can rearrange our bigs around him.

Post play has always been my favorite part of basketbal. So I am always bias towards players with great post games, Big AL, Kobe, Dirk, Melo and Duncan have always been my favorite kind of players to watch.

With all that being said, I'm concern at how Embiid will fare offensively in the NBA against larger more athletic bodies who can give him trouble.

That's why I'm going with Parker or Wiggins if given the # 1 overall, with Embiid in 3rd.
You can't reason someone out of a position they didn't reason themselves into.

Embiid, Parker, Wiggins, Exum, Smart, Gordon, Randle

Gordon above Randle? Randle can ball! His biggest knock is that he's a 6'9 PF but who cares? Skill is skill and the kidd has it.

To be honest Randle/Gordon would be the last players I would choose...

I'd pick up Embiid/Parker/Wiggins anyday... Exum/Smart might also be the ones I'd choose over Randle/Gordon. Its something about undersized PF that kind of get me.

I'd pick Vonleh over both.

  • Let's Go Celtics!
1. Parker (I think he's NBA-ready now and he's got the work ethic to seriously improve)
2. Embiid
3. Exum*

*I like Wiggins, he has a lot of natural talent but I don't know about his motor. Can I have Jeff Green related PTSD if Green is still a Celtic?

I really think it's a top 4, not 3 this year.  What's not worrying me about not getting Embiid to plug our oversized hole at Center is the expected plethora of big men prospects in the next draft--especially since we'll stink again next year.

adding Wiggins, Parker or Exum to Rondo and Sully (with KO and Fav hopefully continuing to develop into solid backups off the bench) would mesh well with a good big man in next year's draft (he said with extreme optimism)

I think Aaron Gordon is going to develop a nice jump shot to help him score from the outside. His handle isn't bad, so I think that improves with age and helps him get to the bucket. He is a great defender who can guard 2-4 and rebound very well.

I agree with Wiggins, I would definitely have PTSD from Jeff Green.
