Since the trade of Paul and Kevin, everyone said Jeff would be the man and average 20+ a game.  I wholeheartedly disagreed.  He isn't, he like everyone has said is a good 3rd or 4th option.  With that being said decisions need to be made about him, if we keep him, he's a role player.

As for Rondo, can we get off the let's trade him, its going to take him at least a month maybe 2 to get back to form.  On top of that he doesn't have a team, no Paul, no Ray, no KG, so who does he pass to?

Kelly is horrible, rookie or not, he flat out sucks.  Feverani sucks, Wallace sucks for his contract.

AB is not worth what he wants, he is an undersized shooting, maybe a bench role but by no stretch a starter.

With that being said, I envision an entirely different team hopefully. I feel the only keepers to this point are, Rondo, Hump, Sully.  I know others are under contract so we have no choice but from what I see, that would be our foundation going forward.

With our luck or lack thereof I think we will land the # 6 or 7th pick in the draft, I would assume draft the best player available.  Trade away our next pick and some players for a free agent, and then pick up/ draft the gap positions and come back next year with:

pg: Rondo
sg: Draft
sf: FA
pf: Sully
c: ....
Hump off the bench.

Thoughts?

This is a horrible team, with maybe 2 or 3 players we should keep to build on.

I do think the 2014-15 Boston Celtics will be signifcantly different than what we're seeing on the floor.  Clearly, this is a transtional unit with only a handful (or less) players who should be part of the long-term picture.

Given the assets that Danny is starting to acquire along with moveable contracts & such, I do think big changes will be coming.

Personally, I'm keeping Rondo & Sullinger and making everyone else expendable.

I think that this has been a tough month, for the team and for fans who bother to try to watch the games, so it's not a great idea to make judgments about how individual players fit into the long term plan based on that.

The OP seems more motivated by emotion than anything else.

Chris Johnson is a fringe NBA player who may be benefiting from "well, someone has to do something out there."



Not saying he can't be part of this or another team, but he is far from what I would call a keeper.



Humphries is a stat hanging big man, not an impact big man.  He can go and be replaced by a cheaper option next year off the bench. 




I would keep Rondo and both big men on rookie deals right now.  Sully because I think the Celtics have a starting quality big man who has fringe all-star potential.  Kelly because his trade value could be greatly improved as he improves and develops some chemistry with Rondo.

Sounds like you need a stiff drink. Not that many people were expecting Green to score more than the 16 points or so he is giving now, or Kelly Olynyk to be an instant superstar (without being deliberately misled by the summer league) and for the rest...

It typically takes about 1 full year to get back to previous form after an ACL tear, not a month or maybe two.  PLEASE be patient with Rondo and please research how long it USUALLY takes for player to really come back from such injuries.

Kelly Olynyk  has some good nights, some bad. I guess that can be expected of a rookie picked in the middle of first round. Avery Bradley is a keeper. I am surprised to see the negative comments on Rondo. He is not himself and will not be until next season.

I trust Danny to make another move or two to help this team for next year and beyond very shortly.

We need to get Exum he could fill the 2 spot next to rondo and we could run a dual PG offense. We have big men that can shoot so why not? Build around Exum Sully and Rondo. Get lucky in the draft a few more times and sign a max free agent and we're a intender again.

And I agree there are very few keepers from this team. I'd add Faverani, Johnson and Pressey to the list of keepers just because they fill a nice role and have such a good youth/production/financial combination. Olynyk will keep sucking for another few years unfortunately.

I think Jeff and Bass are the next to be traded - I've always felt that Bass was a goner after Paul & KG were traded.

Avery I think could be moved in the right deal. I loved All-Defensive team Avery when his focus was hounding opposing PG's on the defensive end and then making smart cuts to the basket/hitting timely corner 3's on the offensive end. This new 20+ shots a game Avery has been a huge let down - this is not the development I was hoping to see. I just think he's trying to hard to prove he can be a good offensive player in addition to his defense so he can command a little more money on his next contract. So yeah, I think he's expendable.

The guys I would keep are Rondo & Sully. I also like Hump as a big off the bench, but it doesn't really make sense to resign him this offseason when we're still looking to add foundation pieces.

I'm not putting much into this whole season (maybe last part) but rondo take your time.  See you next year.  I think green averages 12 or 13 shots a game to average 16pts.  If he gets more shots he averages 20.  Bradley has shot a good enough percentage but he settles for the easy shot and its usually a distant 2.  I'd like to see he and rondo together for an extended time as they do make a nice defensive backcourt but it rarely happens.  Bradley wants too much $ I expect a bradley bass package to go after a center.  Love really wants out of minny I'd throw those 2 and green and see what sticks!  Hump I like and would resign at a lesser deal as a combo pf/c off bench.  Sully I think is nba starter material if you have a true center next to him.

More shots? Who on the team right now is taking shots away from him? Also his FG pct is .422 right now which is hardly "efficient scoring" in my book.
