Let's just say that we continue our dreadful play for the rest of the year and end up with a top 3 lottery pick.  That would give us a legitimate opportunity to end up with Jabari Parker.

If this ends up happening, then Danny has positioned us to have the following lineup:

Rondo-Parker-Jeff Green-Sullinger-Olynyk

Rondo/Pressy
Jabari/Avery
Green/Wallace
Sully/Bass
Olynyk/Humphries

This is quite a lineup with depth.  But the crazy thing about it is that we could have this lineup and STILL have the mega assets that Danny has amassed.  We could be set up for an amazing future (draftwise) AND be able to trade for an Allstar center.

I assume you all will tell me why this is a huge leap, and yes, I know this is all assuming we actually can draft Jabari, which isn't a lock by any means.  But it's also not that far fetched.

Imagine inserting Kevin Love into the center spot of the lineup above with a trade.  And then still, we have those 15 first rounders for trades and future stars.

Yea, this is something I can root for.

Love is not a center. I don't think that would work out too well in our favor having Love play Center.

i agree that the future of the C's would be bright if we land in the top 3, but i disagree that that will be 'quite a lineup'.

Rondo and Parker (assuming he'll turn out how he's projected) is a great core to build around, IMO. I like Sully too but part of me wonders if we're better off trading him and whatever other assets we have (Green? AB? pick?) for a young defensive center (names escape me as of the moment).

Love is not a center and Parker is not a SG. Now Green can guard most 2s so this isnt really an issue but a front court of parker, sully and love would be the worst defensive unit in the league.

You guys are all right.  Love may not play center.   But are we not very close to being a very good team with pieces like that?

I agree. Hopefully we'll be back to contending sooner than later.

C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark

we will have very good pieces, yes, but not a good team since none of the pieces really mesh. DA will still need to move the pieces around to make something happen, like getting a Center.

Not really quite a lineup, at least not in a year when the  other teams are trying.  KO isn't a legit starter, and he's not a center even if he is.  Green is still...well, Green, and Parker, unless truly exceptional, is still a rookie.  Unless you believe you can bank on Sully for 20+ points a game I think you're still looking at a 25-30 win team. the only way it wins more is if the East remains as historically bad as it has been this year.

Just curious, how much you gonna pay Humphries to re-sign him?
Good food, like good music and good love, always requires a little sweat in the making in order for it to be truly memorable.

Yeah, green would have to go. Parker should be slotted into his small forward position. He isn't fast enough to play 2 guard.

Also the team still wouldn't have a center, unless green could be flipped for someone like asik.

In terms of depth, things should continue to thin out next year. Humphries is as good as gone. Sullinger is the future at power forward. Olynyk might be his backup. Bass might still be on the team making more money than a backup 4 should get.

Bradley might be gone too. There is no way the celtics should pay him 8 million per year. He has too many limitations for a starting guard on a contender. I like him at 5 million per year, as a starter for now, and a combo guard off the bench when the celtics are a playoff team again.

Bayless might jump ship too, as Danny ainge should keep the payroll flexible towards getting the next superstar. Meanwhile i dont think Pressey belongs in the nba.

The celtics might not be much better next year. Acquiring a good center would speed things up. It will be very interesting to see how ainge plays his valuable cards over the next couple seasons.

Jabari should slot in at the three. Green could be a hybrid three/four maybe. Or Ainge tries to move him if the youth movement continues. He keeps him if he tries to attract a "star" to play with Rondo and Parker. Sully is weak as our four. I know he is hurt currently. But not enough post play to make up for defensive shortcomings and lack of length. His game will be perimeter shots and put backs on offensive rebounds. We badly need to get Embiid out of this draft not Parker. Embiid is going to be a hybrid KG/Alajowan type. We need that defense and skill in the paint.
