Say what you want about the guy, but it's not his fault he has that contract. Since Rondo has been back he has been playing pretty well. He has always played hard, and you can't really ask much more from a wing than 52% shooting! and he is even hitting 32% of his threes. His free throws are even up to 80%  over the last five games, and he is being aggressive offensively. I know that we have a ton of Wallace haters, but he does do some things well.

I'm not a Wallace hater, I actually really like his playing and his hustle. It just really comes down to the contract. Not saying that he's not worth what he's getting paid, but in the phase the Celtics are currently at, it doesn't make much sense to keep him.

He's not worth what he's being paid.  I don't really think it's debatable, and I'm relatively pro-Crash.  That said, I don't think you trade him if it's going to cost you at least one first-rounder, which is certainly the case today.  As time goes on, two things could happen (and they're not mutually exclusive):

1) The Celtics could start to win, so having a glue guy like Wallace becomes worth more, since now you're winning.

2) There is a shorter duration left on his contract, so it no longer becomes as costly (or costly at all) to move.

I fully expect Wallace to be on this roster until at least next year's trade deadline.  I hope that we get more of the recent Gerald Wallace, and less of the 35% free throw shooting/passing up wide open shots Gerald Wallace.

  • Let's Go Celtics!
I noticed this too, he's definitely seems to mesh well with Rondo (highlighted by Sunday's court length pass and dunk). He's definitely ticked upwards over the last few games.

SF: Gordon Hayward/Demar Derozan

This is true. But what I meant in my first post when I said "not that he's not worth what hes getting paid" I meant, that's another debate. I personally don't think he is, but I do like him.

My point was that his contract just doesn't fit with the current plans for the Celtics. Although, as we all know, plans change overnight sometimes. So we'll see.

the thing that makes me mad or rather, sad is that Wallace never came here during the big 3 era to back up Pierce, would loved Bobcats Wallace here

Not to be a jerk, but you're surprised that someone plays better with Rondo than with PGs playing out of position?  Really?  Of course he's playing better with one of the best point guards in the NBA

I thought he was playing well before Rondo's return.  The last two wins we had were without Rondo and he played well.

Given that it will require sending out draft picks to get someone to take him in a salary dump, it doesn't make sense to trade him unless it is part of a deal where the Celtics are already giving up picks, so it makes the most sense to keep him on the roster until he approaches becoming an expiring contract.

Wallace is the type of player that thrives alongside Rondo. Even though most players do play better alongside Rondo, Wallace and him will be getting along very well.

Shh you can't say that here! Mario Chalmers/Phil Pressey/Thomas etc...> Rondo!

Wallace is getting more playing time which explains his uptick in production

Especially a player who is extremely hesitant to take any shot off the dribble.  It's like how Avery used to be with Rondo.  If you move without he ball and hustle Rondo can find you for buckets.

I get that, and I don't think you're being a jerk. I just think we are stuck with him for awhile  and he is being is a little more aggressive since Rondo's return. I wouldn't be apposed to moving Green, and rolling with Crash and CJ.

Yeah, I'd say he's not worth what he's paid--ut the C's might as well keep him.

The team plays better with Rondo. He is a point guard, the other guy was a 2.

Wallace has upped his game of late. Having a better point helps, but, it is Wallace who has to hit the shot.

Issue when he does play with Rondo? Wallace still passes up to many shots. Nets was a good example. Rondo brings the ball up, makes "the" pass to the "open man" and he passes it back to Rondo with no time left making Rondo have to jack a crummy shot.

Olynyk does this also. Take the dang shot! It's a basketball game. This Johnson kid is actually following orders and shooting. Wallace is playing better, in a Rondo centric world it's because of Rondo. in a Celtic Centric world they've won one game in a month.

Lastly, I love Wallace he is a fighter. Spends more time lying on the deck than all his team mates combined. He's also the best passer on the team...watch his inbounds pass highlight reel...got QB chops.
