Watching, to quote Mike Gorman, my favorite Celtic, play yesterday, I was wondering something. If we look at a narrow glass, so without thinking of Pierce of early years, contract situation, trade bait or anything else, who would you take right now?

Paul Pierce who has lost a step but can be still be an efficient scorer and knows the game extremely well, or Jeff Green who has underperformed but is still extremely athletic and can occasionally take over games.

Please discuss.

You're talking about current Paul Pierce?

I'd probably take Paul. Although he's having a rough season, I'd still feel more comfortable in a tight game, with the ball in his hands.

Green is like a $1 scratch ticket, usually you'll get that dollar back but then sometimes out of nowhere you hit the jackpot. But it's always an unknown.

Paul Pierce - Pierce has that killer instinct. While he may have lost a step, his mentality is still there. I don't see that with Green. I was very high on him, but despite Rondo being out half the season, he should have been the leader while he was gone. I don't see consistency, I don't see much fire (except vs the Heat, and vs Bass). My confidence in Green is slowly dying

Yeah i was thinking current Pierce. In one side, Green has hit some big shots for us this year but i think Pierce would be a more calming presence on the court for us. When our offense slows down and we are lost shooting outside jumpshots like weve done on these last games, i think pierce would help us go to the inside more often like Tommy says.

Pierce just because he means so much to the franchise. However, Jeff Green gets a really bad wrap. Yes he is fairly inconsistent but he can hit big shots in crunch time and has played pretty darn efficient ball this season.

He is simply being asked to play a role which he is not cut out to play, number one option on a team. You put him as a third or in some cases even a second option on most teams, then the year he is having isn't all that "disappointing."

But still gotta agree with Gorman when he calls Pierce his favorite Celtic.

i can dump Green and his bloated contract for Pierce and his expiring deal? can i get swap rights to the Nets 2019 draft pick too? if i can then i would probably do it. otherwise i think i can get better assets for Green

tommy would say something along the lines that paul can average 15 pts a game until he's FIFTY
to me the main thing is defense, paul can't defend the small forwards night in and night out anymore, couldn't do it last year with us, long season and it showed he was god awful at end of year
jeff will never be the player paul was in prime, not same ballpark
right now i'd take both  ;D
i still want paul back as sf sub / 6th man of year next season!

Deends on the teams position but by taking feelings/ history out of it...

For the current C's - Green. Not going to win it all with Pierce and only has 1 or 2 years remaining. Green has room to improve and is more traeable (ignoring contracts).

For a championship caliber team/ contending team - Pierce. No doubt here. Pierce has the ability to put the ball in the hoop and has the winners mentality. He knows how to win and can carry a team come playoff time.
